“What
is the bridge?”
You can feel the joy that is the water. You can hear the gentle laughter
of those who call to you on their way by. Call you to join in. It beckons
to you strongly now. You feel the pull in every atom of your being.
And yet you hang on.
“But what is the bridge?”
The bridge is the duality, the illusion. But you see too clearly now
that it is a mirage; that it cannot hold you. You tried so hard to take
it down and now that it is falling, you try to reinforce it. You find
this to be the ultimate futility, for all the king's horses and
all the king's men can't put it back together again. Wally and
the Beav have left the building and they're not coming back. Ever.
Still, you cling desperately to what is left of it. And doing so is
taking the major portion of your energy.
Come to yourself! Fully know that you are safe. The bridge is false
and will no longer support you. You are exhausted from all this effort;
miserable, weary. Your heart aches for the river and cries out to you,
“Just let go!” Just release your grip and take the plunge.
Why always have to choose which side of a coin? Let the Universe decide.
Why fret over which bank to sit on when you can ride the river to wherever
Spirit takes you?

No,
you don't know the details of what this will be like, but you see
a picture, an analogy, that expresses it well and you feel in your very
being that it is so. As you immerse yourself in the river, you feel
the refreshing, life-giving coolness. You see the sunlight dance and
sparkle on the water. You feel the joy and hear the laughter of the
others.
Yes, you also hear the voice that yells, “Carousel!” or “Sanctuary!”*(remember
Logan's Run?), but whose voice is that? Is it not the voice of fear?
An old but tricky friend, one whose time has passed. And you feel clearly
that if you but continue to stand on the bridge, you will die. You look
out on the river, watching life itself flow by. What will you do?
You know that the Universe applauds you whatever you do. As your heart
nears the bursting point, you feel the love and know that many cheer
you on. What will you do?
A saying that keeps popping up rings in your ears:
“THIS IS NOT A REHEARSAL!”
This is your life. Here. Now.
