Why do we
need such
intense
suffering
in order
to become
kind? Do
you
think we
are really
ready, this
time, to
evolve peacefully? CM: There are twelve steps to end all addictions, including fear and including rage. Isn't it interesting that from the beginning, America's sacred contract has always been independence. Thus, why don't we just connect to our own internal knowing - the power of freedom, of choice? Our
strength
is always
within.
The only
way our
strength
can ever
leave
us
is if we
allow it
to leak
away, or
if we choose
to give
it away
or throw it away by being fearful. MGM:
Many Americans
allowed
fear of
Y2K to haunt
our imaginations throughout 1999. Turns out, there was
really nothing
to fear. CM:
When
I did seminars
then I would
ask the
audience,
How
many
parents
out there
understand
that we
humans are
only gracious
when our
own belly is full? To
illustrate
that point:
Had we come
down to
the last
bottle of
baby
formula
in the scary
new millennium,
who would
deny their
own hungry
baby in order to be virtuous and give the formula
to a sick
child? How
many
diabetics
would volunteer
to endure
insulin
shock in
deference
to another
diabetic?
I can’t
imagine
any of us
doing that. Yet
we are also
the only
country
that, the
very instant
we finish
bombing
an enemy
and secure
their surrender,
we instantly
turn right
around and ship them care packages to help them rebuild. We
love the
idea of
generosity,
but 9/11
has rammed
our collective
spirit.
These days,
the enemy
is invisible:
drugs, terrorism.
At least
the Nazis were more honest about their concentration camps. Until
we fought
in
Viet
Nam, we
were never
focused
on killing
innocent
citizens,
only the
bad guys who were trying to kill us first. MGM:
Is there
an answer
to 9/11? CM:
Every spiritual
master wishes
to shed
light. We
have already
experienced
a cosmic
shift in
astrological
ages, from
a Piscean
perspective that is driven by rules, to The Age of Aquarius, which values
sharing,
collaboration,
balance.
It is more
holistic. Nations
will always
exhibit
their power
plays but
we must
develop
principles
that include
all equally.
Our United
Nations
is all about
social and political consequences. It operates within catastrophe
management
rather
than destiny
management. We
must realize
that it
is economically
impossible
to support
the planet
with
a wartime
mentality.
Water supply
is our next
global crisis,
and our ability to negotiate is in its infancy.
You can't
negotiate
with guns
and
with
force, which
is where
we are now. We
must release
our collective
predator
archetype
and stop
beating
up on
each
other. We
just cannot
go on with
a my
way or no
way
mentality. |
