Inward Bound
- By Michelle Talbot
Anyone who knows my life history knows I could give a lecture on the subject of bad memories. Years ago I had a friend who would say, “ You know Michelle, whenever I feel like my life’s sucking, I just think of your life and then I feel better”.
…I’m glad I could help her out! Seriously, anyone who knows me also knows I’m a thinker…and have a wonderfully delicious memory. But like many things, memory comes with the good, the bad and hopefully not to often, the ugly.
I’m very much a “why” person. I like for things to make logical sense. In saying that I don’t mean I play the “why me” syndrome (although there have been plenty of those too) but closer to the why everything syndrome. Like all of us, my memory acts as sheer personal entertainment…a lot. When hard times hit, my memory seems to slip back to our laughter that day. It lightens the load a bit and I think to myself, “oh, that’s why this is happening, so I can make K feel better when she’s playing her “why me”. It fulfills my logical need. The beauty is in realizing the smallest of encounters have been the most powerful to my well-being.
About Inward Bound™
Inward Bound is a series of hypnotherapy that enables you to release unwanted behavior. Unlike traditional hypnosis sessions that treat the symptom, Inward Bound goes down to the core and the work is performed from that core. And what lies at the core is usually an unexpected memory.
I’ll give you an example of a client a number of years back:
She was a nurse and had to take an exam for another level of her practice.
She came in for “confidence issues” surrounding the upcoming test. When we journeyed Inward Bound it took us to her being two days old and having to have a cyst removed. Because she was a newborn her parents were told they’d have to operate without anesthesia. Under hypnosis she remembered her mother whaling telling her father “No, Do something!” she remembered the doctor telling her father, “She’s too young to feel any pain.” They proceeded with the operation (I disassociated her so she didn’t feel the pain under hypnosis). We then continued the pattern of breakdown until we reach “real time.” After the session she was amazed that she remembered so far back. She told me that her relationship with her father was never a close one and she never knew why. She also told me that he was not supportive of her becoming a nurse so many years back and she never understood that either.
She was very angry with her father at two days old. It continued into her adult years. She told me she was always respectful to him but never close. She told me she almost decided against becoming a nurse because of her father’s reluctance. We were able to bridge the gap between the anxieties of taking this test with her father’s disapproval.
Another client, PJ Dale, said, “Wow! This whole process was amazing to me. It really allowed me to release past issues so I could move forward. I felt an incredible sense of love and well being. I would recommend your work to anyone seeking change…incredible!”, and a young client from Lawrenceville, said, “It worked, it worked! I’m going into 5th grade! I love you! I’m so happy!”
The spiritual counseling received through Inward Bound is indeed healing to the soul. It allows you to release forgiveness that you may not be willing to do consciously. And forgiveness of others and to self is what makes the soul soar.
