Heart-Shrine
Relic Tour in Atlanta
A precious
collection of sacred Buddhist relics returns to Georgia this year on
another step of its international tour. The Heart-Shrine Relic Tour
collection is made up of over 1,000 rare and beautiful pieces, mainly
from the historical Buddha and his closest disciples. All the relics,
gathered from locations around the globe, come from authentic spiritual
sources such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The relics are pearl-like crystals found among the cremation ashes of
the Buddha and other masters. They were deliberately produced and are
believed to embody the deceased masters' spiritual qualities of
compassion and wisdom.
The Relic Tour will stop again in Georgia for two dates: November 26-28
at the Kim Cang Monastery in Lithonia, then the following weekend at
the Drepung Loseling Institute in Atlanta, December 3-5. Thousands of
people saw them when they were shown last year at the Institute.
This unique exhibit is free of charge and open to everyone, regardless
of spiritual background.

The relics are pearl-like crystals found among the cremation ashes of
the Buddha and other masters. They were deliberately produced and are
believed to embody the deceased masters' spiritual qualities of
compassion and wisdom.
To view a relic is a rare opportunity as normally they are permanently
enshrined in temples and seldom brought out in public, much less taken
outside their resident countries.
The Drepung Loseling Institute is proud to host the exhibit for its
second stay in Atlanta, and will be arranging several blessing ceremonies
for those people wishing to be personally blessed by the relics. People
may also take away the blessed water taken from the shrine. Descendant
from the Drepung Loseling Monastery in India and affiliated with Emory
University, Drepung Loseling is committed to the preservation of Tibetan
culture and hopes Georgia residents will take full advantage of this
precious opportunity.
The
Heart-Shrine collection will eventually be enshrined in the heart of
a 500ft Maitreya Buddha statue that is currently being built in Northern
India. Maitri is a Sanskrit word meaning love in the sense of tolerance
and compassion for others. Having a good heart naturally brings peace
in oneself and consequently in others. The Project aims to spread loving
kindness throughout the world. By transforming our own hearts and minds
internally we create the outer conditioning for lasting peace.
This Project is really wonderful and is the result of great courage
and determination, and from the depths of my heart I appreciate and
applaud this wonderful Project, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
said. This is a very holy and sacred Project.
Drepung Loseling Institute is situated in the Woodlake Office Park,
2531 Briarcliff Rd, (Suite 101) Atlanta GA. For viewing times
