Reiki
the Cosmic Glue

My
partner Jill says Reiki is the cosmic
glue that holds all other healing
modalities together. This appears
to be true by the number of healers
that I know that list Reiki as one
of the many things that they offer
in the way of healing. Looking at
the ads that “healers”
offer, you will often find Reiki
listed. What is it about this Reiki
thing that it keeps showing up?
Well, Reiki can be a lot of things...
Looking into the meaning of the
word Reiki, the possibilities are
limitless. Reiki is best described
by the Japanese Kanji that Mikao
Usui (who rediscovered Reiki) put
to paper. Jill, the linguistics
major, just loves this breakdown
of the Kanji form of writing. The
“Rei” Kanji can mean spirit,
mystery, holy, gift, nature spirit,
or invisible spirit. The Kanji for
“Ki” can mean nature scene,
talent, feeling, and energy. So
put all of these words on some dice,
roll them out a few times and see
what you get. The combinations are
limitless.
Reiki
has an interesting way of working.
If I put my hand on your hip and
start to channel Reiki, the energy
flow will go to where you need it
most. So if the issue is that your
heart is troubled on an emotional
level about the fact that you just
can't move forward, the Reiki will
travel to your heart to start to
help you address the real issue.
Not simply the aching hip, but the
reason that the hip hurts.
This
traveling thing makes me stop and
go hmmm... Why does Reiki travel
to where it is needed? How does
it know what to do and where to
go? Let's use one of those meanings
I listed above for Reiki. 'Holy
nature scene': if we look at nature
we realize that it has the ability
to balance itself out rather well.
Reiki helps us to balance ourselves
by going where we need it. The use
of sound in my healing work has
steadily increased over the last
five years. When I looked into some
of the reasons that sound is such
an effective tool for healing I
found that sound energy also travels
to where it is needed. Thus if I
direct a vocal overtone at your
knee and your solar plexus is where
the real block is the sound energy
will travel to your solar plexus.
I like it! It works like Reiki,
and experience has shown that toning,
chanting and overtoning works very
powerfully with Reiki.
