VEDIC CITY GOALS

According to Mayor Bob Wynne, when people are meditating and in tune with their deepest natures, completely clear for good decisions and positively patterned lives, they are linking up to the same intelligence that makes the flowers and plants grow. This kind of consciousness flourishes in Vedic City through twice daily twenty minute meditations.

The purpose of the city is to demonstrate the effectiveness of its programs on health, education, business, agriculture, and even peace. The community's programs are reportedly being adopted in health clinics, schools, corporations, farms, and even governments worldwide. Their goal is to expand to 8,000 meditating residents, turning Maharishi Vedic City into a National Center for Peace. What has been emphasized to this writer is that Maharishi Vedic City is not a religious community.  Residents of the city and meditating residents of nearby Fairfield are followers of all religious faiths. TM is not a religious practice. It is a stress-reducing meditation procedure that prevents sickness and promotes health. Vedic City is not an insular, “utopian” community cut off from the “real” world.
