Embracing Wisdom, Knowledge,
and Direction in Our Lives

By Hara Glen

In today's world the daily challenges for women are enormous. The stresses mount and who has time for self-care, reflection, and sorting out what needs to be changed? Much of present day society seems to encourage “fast pace” living. We have lost the ability to be still and listen to the small voice within that knows what we need and can instill wisdom, knowledge, and direction in our lives.

While men most certainly are not exempt from these inner experiences, we find it more common in women. I believe women must be the example for “man” and assist him in his own spiritual journey, if that is his desire. I encourage the men who might be reading this article to continue on and accept what is meaningful to them. I'm sure that deep within all of us is the yearning to be with the Divine.

We think we know what is best for us, but you only have to look at how relationships are failing, especially the relationship with our spirits. It's time to set new priorities in our lives by giving ourselves the precious gift of 15-20 minutes each day for being still. I can almost hear a resounding voice saying, “But you don't understand.” My answer is, “Oh, do I ever understand!” I've been there, and I have used every excuse available for not taking the journey within. It wasn't until I could glaringly see that my life simply was not in accord with my spiritual calling that I took the following steps:

• I slowed down so I could get in touch with what I was feeling. Giving myself 15-20 minutes each day to be with the Divine opened my mind and my heart to what I needed.

• I made a commitment to make at least one positive change in my daily activities, however small it might be. The small changes became big changes. Now there was ample time for going within.

• I asked myself why I chose to treat myself in hurtful ways. Where did I learn the beliefs that said I was not worthy of a meaningful and joyful life? Then, I prayed for the strength to change that belief.

• I fervently worked on trusting the loving universe for everything. I struggled with my strong self-will and asked that Divine Will take over. My fears began to disappear and a sense of well-being took hold.
