Personally, although I believe that any functioning cell is alive, I find the science to be of great benefit to the health and well-being of humanity. The potential good in this research outweighs fears of possible harm or unscrupulous activities by any given scientist or organization. Each institution has the government's thumb on the scale of justice, so what could go wrong with the balance? We are looking into the face of our futures as the human race through this science and other sciences that are offering us the longevity of a turtle, and the potential acquisition of greater wisdom through extended life. Science
additionally offers
us a further fascination
with the Human-Genealogical-Project,
that is mapping of the
genetic codes of human
beings and other life
forms. The discovery
that all living beings
have a genetic coding
that is closer to, rather
than further from identical,
is something for genuine
rejoicing and celebration.
This recent knowledge
offers a piece of enlightenment
and further supports
the Buddhist understanding
of non-duality, all
of which fills me with
a profound joy.
Science
has discovered some
puzzle pieces that may
actually provide us
with cures for diseases
rather than mere treatments.
That scientific research
and the subsequent knowledge
gained may challenge
the religious and philosophical
beliefs of millions
of people. Individually
if each of us is able
to let go of the dogmatic
metaphors that choke-off
compassionate reasoning,
then the flower of humanity
might finally bear fruit.
In turn, tasting that
fruit's sweetness might
unlock the doors that
trap the loving-kindness
at the core of the true
human heart. Those doors
very often are hinged,
or unhinged, over time
by our own desire and
choices. They lock our
love away from others,
and ourselves, and keep
us from being able to
fully love and be loved,
until again over time
we systematically find
the keys to unlock those
doors and let our love
out, and others'
love in. Until we learn
to peel away the layering
that surrounds us, we
will forever be headed
in the wrong direction,
and away from the heart.
If it is my karma to
return to this world
as a cloned human embryo
and should the ending
of my short-lived life
save countless numbers
of other sentient beings,
human beings, from suffering
then I say, celebrate
my humble offering,
and give a better life
to others.
May
peace fill our hearts
and the universe and
may we all remember
that we are all brothers
and sisters connected
by the infinite inner-being
within The Mother
of all Things.
