known among Americans. According to Acupuncture Today online magazine
(acupuncturetoday.com) over 5,000 individuals have been licensed
in acupuncture and over 1,000 in oriental herbology, to date. This growing
field now has over 45 accredited schools around the nation, with three
regulatory agencies overseeing their programs. These agencies include:
the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine;
the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine; and the
National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental
