Oriental Medicine:
Honoring The Past, Healing Today

Two thousand years ago, the writers of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic (Huang Di Ne Jing) recorded the current understandings of medicine at that time. Who among them would have dreamed that their work would still be influencing medical treatment in 2003? Can you imagine their wide-eyed astonishment if they knew that an entire international medical community of practitioners, from China, Japan, Korea,Vietnam, Europe and the United States, still consider their book the basis for their work?

'Oriental Medicine' is the term most accepted by practitioners these days, as it reflects the diversity of 1500 years of practice and experience by practitioners  outside of China's borders. The Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) adopted this term for its inclusivity of the many cultures who practice this form of treatment, while still honoring its Asian foundation. Other terms for this type of medicine include Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Oriental Energy Medicine (OEM).
