There
is a new divinely inspired peace movement, and you can become involved.
Are you ready? You can help by praying, sewing or surfing the net.
The Cloth of Many Colors is a peace project that was received by James Twyman while in prayer from the Blessed Mary, Queen of Peace. Twyman, author of Emissary of Light and The Secret of the Beloved Disciple and Peace Troubadour, has traveled around the world, singing prayers of peace. James risked his life in Baghdad and Belfast, Ireland to sing and pray for peace. Each time he asked for the world's participation and thousands responded. As you all know, both Iraq and Ireland agreed peace within a matter of days.
During these Peace Concerts, he was inspired to ask people to take a piece of cloth from their clothing and infuse it with Peace. He kept these pieces, until one day he was led by Mary to create a Cloth of Many Colors from the collected pieces. Thousands, maybe millions more, of these pieces will be needed to extend the cloth which will wrap around the United Nations on September 19, 2000. This date is the United Nations International Peace Day, titled "Millennium Peace Day" this year. After showing the world's leaders how many people truly desire Peace, this cloth will then be used to create Peace Shawls that will be given to every Head of State in the world. Beginning with James Twyman's organization, "The Community of the Beloved Disciple," spiritual groups around the world have embraced this project as their own. One of the first organizations to join in was the John Denver Group, a worldwide organization of women and men who devote much of their lives living, teaching and expressing in practice the teachings of John Denver, that were first the lyrics of his beautiful songs. Today, there is a worldwide network of these men and women who carry forth the legacy of John Denver. No group has embraced more passionately the Cloth of Many Colors Project. Already, quilts memorializing the work and legacy of John Denver have been sewn in Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Germany, Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The decision was made within the worldwide John Denver network to create a Cloth within the Cloth of Many Colors. This means that there will be a special portion of the Cloth of Many Colors, when it is unveiled in ceremony, in New York, at the United Nations, that is dedicated to the memory of John Denver. He is the inspiration and motivation for the many hundreds of peacemakers whose own passion for peace is kindled by his songs, his teachings and the legacy of his peace activism. This section of the Cloth of Many Colors will be "The One World John Denver Memorial Peace Cloth". One of the latest organizations to embrace this project, are the Unity churches (www.unity.org). Many of these churches world wide have already infused Peace into swatches of cloth at services and are now sewing the cloths together to create the 36x36 inch quilts that will then be sewn together. Each day new individuals and organizations are joining in to make this project a reality. If you or your group is interested in being a part of this project, please contact us as soon as possible. There are several ways in which you can help. One, infuse Peace into some fabric (3x3 or 4x4 inches). Two, help by sewing the swatches together into 36x36 inch squares. Three, tell your friends and contacts about the project (email is the best, the cheapest and the fastest). Four, while surfing the Internet, visit sites that seem to be in alignment with this project and ask that they put a link from their site to the web site for the Cloth project, which is www.clothofmanycolors.com. Five, if you have a site, please place a link from your site to the Cloth web site (www.clothofmanycolors.com). Six, if you can speak a second language would you be willing to translate the website into another language? Seven, if you belong to any other Peace movement, invite them to join us in this project. We invite you to become a part of this great event, one that you will remember the rest of your life. If you have known for a long time that you came in for something special, or that you want to take a stand for Peace, then this is your time - come join us.
Breaking News As We Go To Press: The United Nations has declared September 19th as Millennium Peace Day. In future years, it will be known as International Peace Day. To

is Disguise The whole world in and around me was bleak and foggy then. It was February and the anniversary weekend of my father's death. When I arrived at Peachtree Hospice, that Friday night, there was hustle and bustle. The room had a cocoon safe feeling from the beginning. There seemed to be a warmth and familiarity between the strangers who had come together to look deeply into all the shadows. Each one had their individual motives for being there. Some were learning to heal the pain of grieving loved ones who had passed, some were learning how to better serve their ailing family member or friend. Some wanted to make a difference by making others' life easier for a while, and some, like me, were healing grief over the loss of a love relationship. Dannion Brinkley, author of Saved by the Light and At Peace in the Light, founded Compassion in Action after he was struck by lightning and suffered two more near-death experiences. He founded a national organization to serve the dying, whether they were in their home, hospital or a hospice. Having taken different workshops and training, from EST, to the priestess training I am currently completing, the trainers and volunteers with the Compassion in Action three day training impressed me by being professional, warm, and caring. We came from all walks of life, but by the end of the weekend, we were forty members of the same family, who learned how to care for and nurture the terminally ill, and their families. The first time I had heard about the training, I had mixed emotions. I felt awe and respect, that human beings are so fully capable of rising unselfishly to the needs of each other. Then came fear. It shook me to my core. How could I handle my emotions with someone in transition and be a comfort in some way, to their family? How could I, a shaman, one who travels between the worlds assisting those who are crossing over, let anyone know I was afraid? We learned to examine and face our fears about illness and death, and to listen to each other and communicate more clearly and effectively. Every tear, emotion and feeling was okay. Every issue that we were experiencing was allowed. In addition to teaching us ways of caring about others, they impressed how important it is to care for ourselves. They created a safe and sacred space for each person in training, and taught us to do the same with others. In the past it was hard for me to be so "real" with another person's feelings and emotions. Through a series of dialoguing, films, exercises, meditation, role-playing and interaction with each other, we learned a lot about death and dying, and assisting the loved ones of the patient. When I had to make a list of all the things and people I loved best, and then one by one, see it all taken away from me, it was one of the most profound moments of my life. I realized that the most important thing I have is the people I love, and how richly I am blessed. The students who were in my class have gone on to hospice work, community involvement, visiting local hospitals and nursing homes, especially the Veterans hospitals, and assisting CIA in events, workshops and expos. One volunteer is able to take his trained dog, Buddy, with him, as he visits with Veterans Hospital patients. Sandy Hatfield, the local coordinator told me "We train people to work with the terminally ill through education, and a lot of our volunteers go on to hospice work. The training is done with love, compassion and in a spiritual way. It's a life altering experience, no matter how someone wants to utilize the training." It's always like a family reunion for me when we get together for a function, with lots of hugs, catching up and food. I have applied what I learned to my everyday interactions with others in my high - stress profession. I recently lost my grandmother, who had been my caretaker when I was small. I was really able to talk to her and be with her, and let her know it was all right to let go of her pain, and move on. I cannot put a price tag on the enormous amount of personal healing, insight and sheer love and community I have experienced from this group of angels in human clothing. "Compassion in Action is committed to raising society's consciousness about death and dying through community and professional education, advocacy, and service to the terminally ill so that no one need die alone."
