I was surprised to hear my seven - year old daughter tell me about conversations with her angel, who seemed to provide wise counsel and loving guidance. Since that time, I have discovered many children who describe profound spiritual experiences but do not have the benefit of conversation, comparison and guidance that might help them to develop and integrate their intuitions and experiences.

For example, Kim claims to hear the internal dialogues of others in a form of deep empathy. At eight, Denise asks profound metaphysical questions and then answers them with astonishing wisdom. Laell, 13, reveals the wisdom of her "spirit guides," including information about me in our first meeting that she could not possibly know through conventional means. Five - year old Eryn sees auras which offer her remarkably accurate information about those people with whom she comes in contact. An award winning teenage writer, Michelle describes her "special" writing as "automatic," providing her with powerful insight and spiritual sustenance. Marc, 5, tells about a near death experience in which he accurately describes the events surrounding his recovery from the perspective of above the operating table, even though he had no recorded brain activity at the time.

Many of these children and their parents have felt the need to connect with one another. In order to make that happen, the Enchanted Forest Intuitive Camp had its first gathering last August in Asheville, NC. The camp is a grassroots, parent - guided gathering in comradeship and support for intuitively talented children and their parents. Our goal is to help children develop their ways of knowing, and to do so in a grounded and balanced way. This camp grew out of spirit calling to itself, families searching for understanding and guidance with their multi-dimensional children. This serves a special opportunity to bring wise and open hearted children and adults together to assist in the evolution of consciousness.

For children, this is a space to meet other wise souls and to talk freely about yourselves, experiences, and ideas including: seeing an angel, empathetic knowing, radical questioning, healing, and more. It is a place to explore and play. For parents, this is a chance to share the grace and to discuss the practicalities of guiding these children. It is an opportunity to network, to gain resources and to cultivate our own intuition.

The Second Enchanted Forest Intuitive Camp is being held about 45 minutes west of Atlanta, June 22-25. A sample of this year's camp includes a well - known intuitive, Frances Fox, who as a child was taught remote viewing; she is currently using her skills to diagnose confusing corporate, medical or psychological situations. Tobin Hart, professor and transpersonal psychologist will offer a session on deep empathy. Nancy Baumgarten, who designed the psykids.net website, will work experientially with Synesthesia. Jaya Devi, Master Instructor, will use yoga as a form of knowing. Parents and children will have "roundtable discussions" relating their questions and wisdoms. Afternoons offer plenty of free time to swim in one of two pools, wade in the river, or enjoy a walk in the woods.

Children have all sorts of rich experiences that we name as spiritual, although mostly they do not have the benefit of conversation, comparison and guidance that might help them to develop and integrate these natural ways of being. Our hope is to help children refine rather than repress their spiritual sensitivities, integrating a spiritual consciousness into everyday life.
