Playing for Clarity

A few weeks ago, I joined a group of people to play Clarity, the Game of Life. Beginning in the Rat Race of our world, there is no doubt that the game holds a striking similarity to our real life journey. Participants come to the table with an intention to ask your intuition through game playing. Traveling through Spirituality, Money, Childhood and The World, one can expect to face Scandals, Time Bombs, Moral Dilemmas, Judgments and Panic Buttons. Any of these will either hold you back or build your empowerment.

My own experience was eye opening, alerting me to the possible blockages along my way to living authentically. For much of the game, I carried the red chips of judgments (mostly toward myself), causing me to move through the paths at a much slower pace. Players around our table were held up by inability to take risks, fear, co-dependency and lack of “play” in their game and real lives. It was amazingly clear where each of us needed to make changes in order to move forward.

The Clarity game was created by Atlanta visionary and alchemical hypnotherapist Debbie Unterman following the 2000 elections. Angered by the results of the Gore/Bush scandal, Debbie experienced a moment of clarity through a vision. “I could clearly see that the spiritual lesson people were to take from seeing the election decided by the courts was to take back their power. All at once I saw that I could invent a game people could play to see how they were traveling through life being ruled by unconscious fears and judgments and dealing with things they did that came back to blow up in their faces. Consequences of the game would show them how those things sidetrack them from their path or set them back. The vision was clear and never left my mind.”

With a degree in Interpersonal Communications as well as certification in Alchemical Hypnotherapy, Debbie is the founder of the Alchemical Hypnotherapy Associations of Atlanta and Aoteoroa (New Zealand). On creating the game, Debbie says, “Because of my understanding of the intricacies of Alchemy and my years of experiences navigating through the subconscious minds of thousands of clients, I was determined to create a game to help people play through their issues.

This game is designed to be a quick way to receive guidance, direction and insights on relationships, career, life purpose, health, money, or anything you choose. This will help you go forward in life more informed, as though you’ve been able to see your future clearly in a crystal ball. And as you are engrossed in the fun of playing, it compassionately coaches you through any blocks that have stood in your way.

It’s like a wise friend you can go to often for guidance and entertainment. Playing it combines the fun of Monopoly with the insight of a psychic reading. Only unlike the old paradigm of playing games like Monopoly, where one person wins at the expense of others who lose, everyone who plays Clarity is a winner, because everyone walks away having learned something valuable!”

Partner DeAnna Hohnhorst’s creativity brought the vision to life. With the eye of an artist, DeAnna formed a game board in the shape of a butterfly. A heart in the center is surrounded by four wings representing the four journeys -- Spirituality, Money, Childhood, and The World. “The butterfly is a universal symbol for change which fit well with the Game being a tool for transformation. The metamorphosis from the chrysalis state to me represents freedom, beauty and flying -- a major symbol for the Game. Putting the heart in the center is symbolic of getting what you really want out of life that makes your heart sing. The Game takes the invisible workings of our mind and brings it to life in a ceremonial way.”

Currently, games are held in groups of five, often hosted by someone at their home. Playing takes approximately four hours, including time for sharing insights and group support. Gloria Parker and the Aquarius staff have agreed to take part in the Game of Clarity, and report on their experience in an upcoming issue.

The connection between the game and your life is real. You will be astounded to see what really holds you where you are, moving in place until you address the block that keeps you still. Often we are already aware of it somehow, but through this game your intuition will guide you, offering karmic experiences and healing of body and mind. Some questions that have brought clarity to previous players include topics such as personal power, steps required to move forward in a particular field, attracting a partner, obtaining “optimum health,” beginning a business, speaking truth and more.

A public game is being offered Saturday July 8 from 1-4 pm for those who wish to receive Clarity on life issues. The cost is $35 per person and space is limited.
