One of the most beloved of New Age performers, Kitaro, has just released a two-CD set called An Ancient Journey. This Grammy-award winner, who has also won a Golden Globe for his soundtrack to Oliver Stone's “Heaven and Earth,” takes listeners on a journey to ancient civilizations in this new disc. Combining traditional Middle Eastern and Chinese instruments with his analogue synthesizer and other favorite instruments, Kitaro weaves a rich tapestry of the human experience. The music swells majestically and you can imagine thousands of people building the Great Pyramids. Or the subtle sound of sand shifting conjures the image of the sands of time before a new vista opens before us. Don't miss this incredible musical journey!

Don Slepian's Sea of Bliss (Don Slepian Music) is one of the most beautiful recordings I've ever heard. Slepian, a composer, performer and programmer of electronic music, has been ranked with Kitaro and Brian Eno. Sea of Bliss is one of his earliest recordings, performed on a Digital Synthesizer in 1980 and featured on NPR's “Music from the Hearts of Space,” now digitally re-mastered to a peak of perfection in sound quality. This is its first release on compact disc. It is both relaxing and rejuvenating, like standing at the edge of a waterfall's spray. Its complex polyrhythmic layers are fascinating to follow, and the drones shift your consciousness from one level to another. There are no breaks between tracks to distract the listener, and no pattern that would warn that one movement is about to end or begin; it's seamless. Its enchanting rills and soaring tones are the perfect accompaniment for crystal work, hypnosis, creative work of any kind, and healing, as well as yoga or Tai Chi. His latest releases are Electronic Music from the Rainbow Isle and Introspection, and frankly, I can't wait to hear them. This CD is a must for healers and meditators!

Journey to the Heart is the first in a series of healing music releases for Body, Mind and Spirit. It's a compilation album, featuring the works of Kitaro, Unu Mondo, Dave Eggar, Luis Perez, Rojo, Nawang Khechog, Steven Kindler, Shinji, Yu-Xiao Guang, Primal Instinct-even Debussy! Journey to the Heart has many colors and textures to please listeners. Luis Perez's lilting “Sleeping Woman” combines Pre-Columbian and modern instrumentation, guiding the listener on an astral journey. “Peace Through Kindness,” by Nawang Khechog, is a musical peace meditation by this Tibetan flute master. Unu Mondo's “Lakota” brings us haunting flute melodies in that masterful tradition. Hispanic composer Rojo's sophisticated piano stylings reminisce the innocence of childhood and loving memories. Primal Instinct's “Spirit Within” takes the listener deep into the rainforest jungle, with acoustic and electronic melody, powerful drum effects, and natural sounds. Journey to the Heart has more structured compositions and animated drumming than I'd choose for an energy healing session, but it certainly is uplifting and emotionally healing. It's also lovely! Highly recommended.
