      Our July guest features Dr. Fernan Poulin, a chiropractor with Millenium Health, who offers healthcare beyond mainstream chiropractic:

     A: What have you been involved in over the years, to facilitate people in their healing process?

     Dr. P.: "I've been studying and researching energy medicine for close to 20 years. My curiosity in this unusual and perceptual science stems from an experience I had when I was 24 years old. I began to see patterns of colors and energy dynamics within and outside the human physical frame.

     This ability led me to deepen my knowledge of the energy field and the chakra system by studying with Rosalyn Bruyere, an internationally recognized clairvoyant healer, medicine woman and author of Wheels of Light, as well as various psychologists, and I studied the ways of shamanism and other medicine people across the world.

     However, my mission truly began when I started coaching people thirteen years ago about the energetic patterns that I perceived in their energy systems, the historical background (life stories), the dynamics, and how all of this affects their relationship with themselves, others and life in general. The etheric matrix of those patterns creates their health or ill health. I had a private practice incorporating coaching with the psychospiritual aspects of the chakra system. I received training through the Upledger Institute in CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and Somato Emotional Release techniques. After years of incorporating these techniques with the coaching, I began to feel the need to work in a field that deals with the human frame in a natural way.

     So chiropractic became my next journey into the understanding of pathology and neurology in relationship to the energy patterns that I see in someone's field."

     A.: Can you give me an example of how you might work with a client with a cervical subluxation?

     Dr. P.: "I train my patients in how to manage their own energy systems, so if there is a first and second chakra misalignment, I will coach them so that they can release the tension in that area until it leaves altogether. If a patient has low back pain and it is not structural pain, there may be an energetic tension that is carrying it. I address the imbalances if they are structural, but I encourage my patients to take the responsibility to manage the change energetically. I give them the option to work with their own energy and see what kind of difference it makes symptomatically. I recently had a client with strong neck pain, as well as a short leg and other symptoms. I asked her to find and hold the place where the energy was amplified in her neck. As she held that place, her shoulder dropped and the leg that had been short, lengthened, bringing her spine back into proper alignment."

     A.: How does this apply with energy medicine?

     Dr. P.: "Energy flows via tissue and the nerves can be seen as the grounding for the flow. When the nerve flow to the tissue is decreased, as in a misalignment in the spine, the tissue loses its proper grounding ability and tone to sustain vitality. Thus there is a decrease of potential energy in that tissue or in other instances there can by a hyperactive energetic pattern. When the atlas is properly and specifically corrected, the energetic amplitude is returned, the tissues relax, proper tone is restored, and the structure realigns itself giving greater possibilities for the energetic patterns to begin to alter and revitalize tissue. In order to facilitate this process, I evaluate the structure and the electromagnetic field along the spine, I gently correct the resistance around the atlas, I observe the way the energy system is changing, and if needed, I facilitate the energy system to release the patterns so that the tissue can begin to heal. The truth is that it is the intelligence of the body that takes the changes I present and distributes the energy to where it is most needed for healing."

     A.: You work with allergies as well?

     Dr. P.: "I use a technique called NAET, (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique). This procedure involves oriental medicine, Applied Kinesiology, homeopathy, and chiropractic. Allergens have an electromagnetic field that is incompatible to the body's electromagnetic field. The treatment corrects this imbalance so that the patient is no longer allergic to the substance."
