I say we haven't begun to use the power of the human mind. Specifically,
I believe that each of us has undeveloped psychic power. How about it,
Swami? Do you think we will harness psychic energy for human and planetary
benefit in the future?

Dear Ray,
In a recent visit to the future, I was pleased to find that indeed psychic
power was being used in all areas of life and we were saving tremendous
amounts of time and energy as a result. For example, psychic shopping
will be all the rage. In fact, there will be a huge department store
where all the employees will be psychic. It will be called Seers. Yes,
as soon as you walk into the store, they will already have your order
waiting for you. Or you can do the Seers shop-by-mail program. That's
where every month they ship you an item you're going to need later
that month. And you'll never have to worry about overextending your
budget as long as you have a Seers credit card. Most stores will approve
or reject credit based on past credit ratings. Seers will base theirs
on future credit ratings.
Oh, it will be an amazing world indeed. There will be psychic advertising
agencies. All they'll have to do is beam their messages to targeted
mailing lists - just beaming their thoughts at the list will be enough,
so they'll never have to do any actual mailing. Think of how much
money this will save! Speaking of saving money, since we already will
know who is going to win the elections, there will be no need for losing
candidates to spend any money on debates or advertising. This is good
news for people who hate missing their regular TV shows.
The psychic revolution will have a great effect on the world of sports.
Instead of betting on the Sunday football game, fans will bet on the
Saturday pigskin preview shows. Since only the most die-hard fans will
end up watching the game itself, this will free up a lot of time for
most people. The era of the overpaid athlete will give way to the era
of the overpaid psychic. But we are still many years from this scenario,
as we still have a long way to go developing psychic powers. Case in
point: I was recently invited to speak at a psychic fair. When I got
there, I learned it had been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
