Reviews
by Kathryn Sargent
The
Blissmaker, by Royce Richardson
(Ancient Rivers Publishing), is a multi-media
experience: the deluxe edition includes
a 470 page novel, a CD with instrumental
music and guided visualizations, Richardson's
hand-drawn illustrations and his own
musical scores. The story line covers
the spiritual journeys of a group of
people led by a mysterious Old Soul,
as they become empowered by experiencing
altered states of consciousness. The
main premise of the book/music/art is
that Everything is of our choosing
no matter how helpless we believe or
have been told we are. Particularly
since 9/11, this book's message
brings hope for a more evolved humanity
in the future. My hope is that, like
the Hundredth Monkey concept, the ideas
in this book will spread far and wide.
Scott
Cole's videos, Discover Tai
Chi: Back Care and PM
Workout (Natural Journeys, a
division of Goldhil Home Media), have
been a revelation for me. After a back
injury and years of being afraid to
move, Cole's Back Care Tai Chi workout
has taught me that movement is once
again my friend. Cole suggests that
much back pain and stiffness is caused
by inactivity, stagnant energy,
poor circulation and repeated one'dimension
physical patterns. Tai Chi can
relieve back pain, increase strength,
and restore energy channels to their
natural state, he explains. It certainly
has made a difference in my life!
Wai
Lana Yoga comes in a set of
three videos, and they are certainly
the loveliest yoga videos I've seen.
Filmed on beaches and rocky crags in
Hawaii, the diminuative Wai Lana guides
workouts for Firming, Upside Down,
and Burn Off. The Fun
Challenge series is pretty demanding;
I would suggest this series is best
for intermediate to advanced yoga students.
Other video titles by Wai Lana are for
Beginners, Toning, Goodbye Inertia,
and Wake Up Body.
Wai
Lana's Meditation Trilogy: A Journey
of the Heart and Soul, is a
three-CD set of guided meditation and
peaceful sound. The individual CDs are
entitled Rest and Relax, Yoga:
Music of the Heart; and Yoga
Sound. Wai Lana's
beautiful voice is truly hypnotic, and
these CDs are a treasure in these stressful
times. Treat yourself to this!
