Supernatural Awareness

By Cathy H. Burroughs

The overriding theme for the Year 2004 is to bring some of our supernatural and heightened awareness that has been developed through the year 2003 into our day to day life. This will affect our fabric of life and how we treat each other. There is a strong focus on protecting the Earth, on the global front, and a renewed interest in protecting the environment.

Back to Basics: Quality not Quantity

In our personal lives this will mean more attention to the sensual pleasures of day to day life through self nourishment and a renewed emphasis on finding the beauty in simple pleasures: relishing a cup of tea, receiving regular massages, starting a garden, and spending more time with the home, and making it a haven. There is a strong emphasis on helping children lay the groundwork for their own financial stability: their home, their long range financial planning, their pensions and a renewed interest in large family gatherings, cooking, beautiful linens and collecting art.

Aromatherapy, bath salts, body work and retreats will figure more and more into everyday life where people on a mass scale will be re-evaluating the “workaholism” that has run rampant in the U.S. for the past several years. There will be a renewed interest in "quality of life" rather than a work dominated existence. We will also see the continued trend toward simplification and back to basics that we have seen re-emerging in recent years.

Care for the Elderly: Affordable Healthcare

There is a strong emphasis this year on doing good works, renewed commitment to charity and addressing the needs of the underserved and disenfranchised. There will be a re-evaluation again of our Social Security System, with increasing alarm over the costs, as well as our approach to unemployment and a revisiting a national health care program. Traditional medicine will willingly partner with that which has been considered alternative medicine, including homeopathy, use of supplements, energy healing, Chinese medicine, chiropractery, naturopathy, use of medical intuitives and others. Alternative treatments will move more and more into the mainstream treatment protocols.

Countering the Affects of Aging

There will be a strong theme of re-evaluating our care of the elderly and creating ways and means to make health care more universally available. We will see rate increases in HMO's and medical plans that may spur new legislation protecting people from these formidable increases. There is an increasing focus on addressing the issues of aging and a regime of anti-aging efforts including exercise, supplements, eating habits and maintaining brain, memory and body elasticity.

We will see this influence the beauty and health care markets and the nature of new product lines. We will also see more books come out this year on how to counter the affects of aging.

We may see figures such as Mother Theresa, and others, who have devoted their lives to serving society's underprivileged and neglected be awarded sainthood.

Increased Entrepreneurial ship: Wealth as a State of Mind

This year will mark an increase in people wanting to follow their dreams; to work less or work in a more individualized and freeing atmosphere. We will see an increase in people going to work for themselves, and spiritual fulfillment, individual freedom and an emphasis on authentic selfhood influencing career paths and choices. We will see a new emphasis on inexpensive services available to the masses that will challenge the existing corporate infrastructure. The way of doing business will change drastically and those who adhere to an old model may find themselves being left behind for new companies with expansive policies of customer service and affordable commodities that reflect new thinking and fresh energy.

We will also see more books and more awareness of the powers of magical prosperity thinking and the capacity to manifest through intent.

International Policy

We will continue to see a strong aggressive anti-terrorist war machine in high gear with an increasing number of groups being organizing to oppose this trend. A powerful undercurrent of emotional fear and awareness that this trend may increase our risk of global disaster begins to penetrate the unconsciousness of the collective. There may be a renewed interest in bomb shelters or information providing information on how to face these possibilities. There is a possibilty of a new millennium version of the “Duck and Cover” movement of the 50's. With this will be an increasing movement to partnership as a means of feeling “less alone” through this cycle. These themes may be expressed in movies, and we may see an updated version of ET or a movie with similar themes created by a Spielberg or a young emerging Spielberg type director.

Intergalactic Themes in the Media

We will continue to see and hear in the media renewed interest in multidimensional and multiplanetary realities and communities, with an underground movement working on interplanetary communication. We may also see a renewed interest on the spiritual themes of ascension, raising the vibrational frequency and ESP and telepathy. There may be increased interest in the lost Mayan culture and re-discoveries regarding the actual existences of such rumored civilizations as Atlantic and Lemuria.

Three Cultural Directions

We may see an increased emphasis on conservative policies and a conservative reversals of policies and legislation affecting abortion, gay marriage and an increasingly revamped approach to the stock market and trading. By the same token we will see another strata of society showing an increase in alternative means of dealing with harsh realities in energetic or spiritual terms that transcend political policies. This may emphasize a polarization in the culture and we may see a third strata emerging as “neutral” or preferring to avoid taking any stand at all... a renewed culture of “apathy” or a culture of sports enthusiasts who focus primarily on their personal well being as a means of dealing with the complexities of these times.

Higher Consciousness

There will a massive shift in consciousness that is almost unavoidable with the culture dealing with this in three ways: through aggressively and eagerly cultivating this; through denial and resistance with a strong anti-higher consciousness backlash, and, thirdly through an increased mode of escapism through exercise and a renewed turn inward to the individual life and family life, with an avoidance of dealing with the global arena. People will actively stop reading the papers and watching the news, as we see declines in ratings and newspaper subscriptions. We will see increased news coverage on the Internet and through mobile phones as alternative to traditional news coverage. An increased culture of “fear” will affect an increased conservative climate, and exaggerated nationalism or patriotism that will accompany this.

Additional Planetary Trends*

Venus Retrograde in Gemini - May and June 2004: We will be re-learning to think within the box, a return to civility and a re-evaluation of fair play, dialog and consensus building; reprogramming our thinking away from competitiveness and toward collaboration. We will diversify and not putting “all of our eggs in one basket” on many levels.

Jupiter in Virgo and Libra - Obesity becomes a national epidemic with increasing attention in the media and through aggressive medical interventions. Also, the high cost of rebuilding nations post bombing will be in the international media. In fall 2004, fresh looks at partnering in all forms and justice for the individual. The “patriot act” will be revisited due to concerns over sacrificing individual rights and due process. We will most likely see new legislation protecting committed partnerships in all its forms.

Uranus enters Pisces - This marks a seven-year trend. Group and individual mysticism will be on the rise. Increase focus on the individual to carve his or her own mystical path and an increase on compassion and unconditional love as a way of life. We will more likely than not see an increase in programs that serve the underserved and disenfranchised. In will be interesting to see how the Biblical verse “and the meek shall inherit the earth” will play out during this seven year cycle.

Saturn enter Cancer - A re-evaluation of our agricultural processes and a growing concern on altered genetics, use of hormones and toxins will affect policy. We will see the ramifications of having neglected addressing world problems of hunger, poverty, disease and inadequate medical services. We will also revisit the notion of nationalism - its pros and its limitations to global thinking and problem solving.
