Sadhguru has said that what we know is what we perceive through our five senses and that our mind is a collection of garbage that has accumulated throughout the course of life. But he says there is another way of knowing. By the time I left for India, I was walking an amazing three miles a day – a marked improvement from the limited 150 feet .

After a few days, Sadhguru inquired whether I was still on the respirator at night. I explained that I was and without it I was tired, confused, and worse had angina. He told me to go to the Dhyanalinga temple and sleep three nights there, to do kriyas  for one and a half hours, and to stop using the respirator. Dhyanalinga temple is a multi-religious, meditation temple located at the ashram. There is no worship performed; people come and sit inside in silence and if they are open, they will become meditative. For the first time in years, I slept so peacefully and had no problem breathing. I began to feel that the Himalayan trek would definitely work out.

The major climb was to Kedarnath. This seemingly endless 14 kms uphill haul was real challenge for me. As I walked, I saw many people in good health getting on donkeys or being carried by men due to extreme fatigue. But again, the mantra and turning the doing over to Sadhguru, along with a hug and encouragement from him during the climb, enabled me to reach this height – yet another miracle.

It was a tough haul but I made the full 14 kms walk to an altitude of 14,300 feet, a height my doctors said could be fatal for me without oxygen, even without any exertion. I could only understand it as an incredible gift and blessing from my guru.

The next morning, I followed Sadhguru to the temple. Being there with him, it felt as if his energy merged with that of the lingam. Then suddenly there was an energy triangle formed between Sadhguru, the lingam and me; a brief but powerful experience of “the vision of the beyond”, which is what Sadhguru and his foundation offer to the world.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is a realized master, yogi and mystic and founder of the Isha Foundation, an international public service organization. Sadhguru created Isha Yoga, Yoga of the Divine. For more information about sadhguru and the Atlanta programs call (678)238-9375 or (678)482-6100.
