Visualize
Whirled
Peas!
So
goes
a
popular
bumper
sticker,
in
which
New
Agers
poke
fun
at
our
own
concepts
of
visualization
and
how
it
might
lead
to
world
peace.
The
Year
2002
brings
a
new
era
for
Americans,
an
era
in
which
we
have,
in
a
way,
lost
our
innocence.
Up
until
September
11,
2001,
we
had
a
certain
naivete
that
the
world
at
large
might
be
wracked
by
war
and
terrorism
but
we
were
safe.
We've
had
a
few
turns
with
domestic
terrorists
-
Oklahoma
City,
the
Atlanta
Olympics
bomb,
and
the
Birmingham
abortion
clinic
bomb
-
but
somehow,
it's
just
not
the
same
as
having
a
foreign
terrorist
attack
us
on
our
own
soil,
in
peace
time,
with
no
warning.
Since
9.11,
have
you
noticed
a
tendency
not
to
take
peace,
or
even
life
itself,
for
granted?
Have
you
said
I
love
you
more
often?
Have
you
compared
the
sight
of
bombed
cities
in
Afghanistan
with
the
green
lawns
and
neat
homes
of
your
subdivision
or
the
beauty
of
a
town
park
in
your
own
neighborhood?
Are
you
more
grateful
than
ever
for
what
you
have,
for
America?
In
this
issue's
center
spread,
we
present
our
usual
New
Year's
Predictions.
The
color
of
these
predictions
has
changed
from
that
of
years
past.
Here,
too,
is
an
indication
of
lost
innocence.
Some
of
these
predictions
are
quite
dark,
indicating
more
terrorism
ahead
of
us.
We
go
to
psychics,
intuitive
readers,
and
astrologers
not
just
to
learn
what
good
or
ill
may
befall
us,
but
to
prepare
ourselves
to
respond
or
prevent,
as
needed.
What
good
is
it
to
know
misfortune
might
be
heading
our
way
if
we
sit
idly
by
and
do
nothing
to
counter
it?
I
ask
you
to
read
and
consider
these
predictions,
and
then
do
everything
in
your
power
to
turn
the
tide.
Remember
those
witches
in
England
who
worked
magick
to
prevent
Hitler
from
invading
their
country?
Well,
you
have
the
power
to
effect
change,
too.
Pray,
do
magick,
and
yes,
visualize
in
the
name
of
world
peace.
You
know
that
it
is
a
basic
concept
of
the
New
Age
movement
that
what
you
focus
on
magnifies.
If
you
focus
on
the
dark
things
that
might
happen,
and
on
fear,
then
that's
what
you'll
magnify.
And
the
more
of
us
who
choose
that
course,
the
worse
it
gets.
You
can
choose,
instead,
to
visualize
our
leaders
doing
everything
possible
to
bring
peace
to
the
world.
You
can
choose
to
visualize
friendship
between
our
own
people
and
those
who
have
proclaimed
themselves
our
enemies.
