Seeing
the Light:
Crystal-Clear Decisions
The following
excerpt is taken from Chapter 11 of the book Angel Medicine:
How to Heal the Body and Mind with Help of the Angels,
by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.. It is published by Hay House and
is available at all bookstores.
With
any manifestation, it's essential to be certain about what
you desire. Angel medicine can work instantly, and you can be
immediately healed. The key is that you're completely clear
that you require an instant healing. You need to release any doubts
or fears that this is the right thing. Some may worry that commanding
Heaven is blasphemous, and this fear can short-circuit an immediate
healing. It's clarity about your desires that brings about
results.
Our inner light stems from that part of us that is instinctual.
Animals and birds use instinct for survival. When a snake sets
his sights upon his prey, he has the crystal-clear intention of
eating. He doesn't hesitate, thinking, What if I don't
deserve to eat? or What if this isn't God's will for me?
Without clear intentions, the snake would starve and die. While
we don't need to stalk live prey for survival, we do need
the same clear intentions to manifest our earthly needs. We still
have instincts within us that need honoring and attention.
This isn't the same thing as straining or forcing an outcome
to occur. Anytime we try to make something happen, we become blocked
as far as achieving our desired goals. That's because the
negativity associated with force and strain attract the very thing
we fear. These fears might include anxieties about whether you'll
be able to achieve an outcome, whether you deserve
it, whether you'll be able to keep and maintain the desired
outcome in the future, and what other people may think about your
success.
Having crystal-clear intentions means having a relaxed, confident
attitude. It may help to keep in mind that as you're healed,
you're in a better position to help your loved ones and community.
As a strong, healed, secure person, you've got more resources
that allow you to give more freely with joy and passion.
Overcoming the Fear of Healing
If a part of you wants to be healthy but another part of you is
afraid of health, this will block your manifestation. To heal,
you need a crystal-clear intention of health. With clear intentions,
miracles such as instantaneous healings are possible.
A Course in Miracles says that instant healings
are normal; however, many people fear being instantly healed.
They think it's too weird to immediately be healed from a
malady. That's because Western medicine believes that healing
occurs over time slowly after regular visits to
the doctor and taking medication for weeks or months. As much
as we want an instant healing, this would scare us as much as
seeing a ghost. So, we have one foot on the gas pedal and one
on the brake as we pray for healing while simultaneously
(unconsciously) praying that it doesn't occur, since it would
scare us.
I've also had clients express deep-seated fears that they
didn't deserve instant healings, so they wouldn't accept
it when it occurred. I remember one woman who asked me to heal
a boil on her ear. I placed my hands on her earlobes and sent
energy through the ear while simultaneously affirming that it
was healed. The boil instantly started draining and disintegrating.
The woman held her ear and kept exclaiming that she couldn't
believe the healing occurred so quickly! I reminded her of a famous
Louise Hay story along the same lines:
Louise recounts that she once helped a client instantly heal from
the need for corrective lenses that is, the woman now had
perfect vision. The woman was naturally pleased; however, she
was so amazed at the immediacy of the healing that she kept exclaiming,
Oh my! I can't believe I don't need glasses anymore!
I can't believe it! The woman affirmed so many times
that she couldn't believe that her eyesight was improved that
she soon manifested the need to wear glasses again.
Why would anyone be afraid of health? In my healing work, I've
seen the following reasons:
Fear of God's will. Some people
fear that God is willing their ill health, and they're afraid
of violating a greater will than their own.
Yet, if we truly believe that God is loving, and if we trust that
God is good, then why would the Creator will anything but love
and goodness for us? One who is all-love would never test
us, or use pain as a way to make us grow. Wouldn't we be more
useful to God's plan if our energy and health were vibrant
and radiant?
When you pray for health, be very clear that this is God's
will for you. You are one of the much-needed troops of Earth angels
on this planet. All hands are needed for the smooth operation
of God's plan of peace. When one lightworker opts out of his
or her appointed task, it leaves another lightworker to dog the
work for two.
Ambivalence about suffering. Some individuals believe
that all life is about suffering and that suffering is inevitable.
Freedom from suffering isn't achievable, in their opinions,
so why bother working on its attainment?
Many people have told me that they believe suffering is the only
route to personal and spiritual growth. Their souls will be shortchanged
if they try to bypass the important life lessons inherent in pain.
The angels have told me, though, that while we can definitely
become stronger through suffering, we can also grow much faster
through peace.
When we become peaceful, we make an important contribution toward
world peace. We also inspire others through our peacefulness.
Being ill or injured never inspired anyone. But transcending or
healing physical limitations is always uplifting to witness.
Fear of change. Chronic illness or injury can become
a lifestyle and a long-term project. Being healthy would
leave an empty gap, which some people instinctively fear. A
Course in Miracles: The Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual
for Teachers says that all forms of sickness, even
unto death, are physical expressions of the fear of awakening.
In other words, ill health can keep our minds and schedules so
busy that we avoid looking inward at ourselves and our life's
purpose.
Let's admit it: We're rewarded for illness and
injury with lots of sympathy, cards, and bouquets. We might
also receive time off from work or school, as well as payment
for long-term disabilities. We may unconsciously desire the continuation
of these rewards, and resist mending our bodies as a result.
Self-esteem. Many of the people whom I've counseled
have admitted that, deep down, they don't believe that they
deserve happiness and health. They also wonder whether they warrant
Heaven's attention, having lived less-than-perfect lives.
I help them see that, while none of us live perfectly, we're
all still God's perfect children. We're all equally loved,
unconditionally.
Fixed ideas about health. Some folks have firm beliefs
that they’ll inherit a genetic family trait, that illness
is inevitable, or that a certain condition is untreatable. In
a way, doctors put curses on patients when they give firm diagnoses,
and if we buy into these diagnoses, we may manifest the symptoms.
We can also be influenced by advertisements about illness and
medications, and media hype about epidemics.
Clear Expectations, Clear Results
Clarity about your desire for an instant healing, and your acceptance
of an instant healing are both equally important. A busy spa owner
from San Francisco told me that she'd been diagnosed with
cancer. As she was being wheeled into the operating room, she
exclaimed loudly, I don't have time for this!
She meant it, too her business demands kept her occupied
every day, and she had no time for an operation or recovery time.
The doctors opened her up and were amazed to see that there was
no evidence of cancer.
Put your foot down to the Universe and tell it your conditions.
But what about God's will? some will ask. This is an individual
concern. I truly believe that each of us has a time
when we're to go home to Heaven. We preplanned this time,
in conjunction with God and our angels before incarnating.
I also believe that God is omnipresent, within each of us. This
means that God's will is everywhere, overlapping your own.
And a loving God would never want you to suffer in any way, just
as you'd never will your own children to suffer.
It's true that you can grow through pain, but it's also
true that you can grow through peace. Demand, command, and expect
peace in all ways, and it shall be yours.
Some people are afraid of health because they have an investment
in illness. One woman I worked with had her whole life wrapped
around her illness: It was her project, her love, her child. If
she healed, what would fill this vacancy? The very thought of
a healthy body left my client anxious. She worried, How
will I spend my new free time? and What meaning will
my life have? With free time, she'd have to search for
a meaningful project, and this might mean failure or success
two of her biggest fears.
