Born in China, Angela Jui Lee immigrated to the United States in 1971. The Moon is High, her second CD, follows the success of her first recording, Heart's Strings. Lee is a master performing artist well known for her extraordinary solo performances on the ghu-zheng. The ghu-zheng, a stringed musical instrument, has been in use in China for at least 3000 years. Lee's first CD was a meditative, quiet recording dedicated to the loving memory of her son. The Moon is High is more energetic, extroverted, and outwardly expressive. Lee plays original arrangements of traditional Chinese melodies. An Atlanta area resident, Lee often performs at area concert halls and local universities. She frequently presents workshops at special cultural events and public schools. She was also selected to perform at the 1996 summer Olympics. The Moon Is High is an exquisite recording, and is sure to appeal to listeners with an interest in traditional Chinese music.-CS Continuing
