in the Real Music label's “Sacred
Spa” music series, the
CD Letting the World Go By
invites the listener to relax, renew,
and rejuvenate the spirit and the
senses. A compilation of instrumental
tracks by some of the label's
best-known composers and performers,
this CD includes pieces by Govi,
Danny Wright, and Hilary Stagg
among numerous others. As its title
implies, this CD is the ideal accompaniment
to meditation, yoga, relaxation, or
bodywork of any kind. Listeners who
enjoy this CD will also appreciate
the earlier two titles in this series,
Quiet Days and Wrapped
in Stillness.

Evoking
the mysticism of Hildegard von Bingen
and reminiscent of the ethereal vocals
of Enya, the composer Enam's
first CD, Anchelii,
is a remarkable recording. Comparisons
to other extraordinary New Age recording
artists such as Clannad and
Loreena McKennit are also inevitable.
What makes this recording so surprising
is that Enam composed and performed
each selection, and he plays every
instrument including keyboards, piano,
dulcimer, percussion, strings, and
even bag pipes. His mesmerizing compositions
do not have traditional lyrics as
such, but rather they contain combinations
of pronounced and sung sounds that
invite the listener on an otherworldly
journey. From the stunning CD cover
art to the diversity and beauty of
the song selection, Enam's Anchelii
will be an often-played addition to
every New Age music listener's
library. This recording is currently
available as an import CD, and so
it may have to be ordered through
your favorite music or bookstore.
