Lessons of the Heart

Rev. Tony Crapolicchio

The heart is designed to keep our blood supply flowing so humankind may experience the excitement of life’s flow. By focusing our attention on the wonder of life we open ourselves to it’s excitement.

The memory I hold of my mother from childhood is not one many people who knew her in later years would recognize. Throughout her life she struggled with her weight, eventually reaching 280 pounds with a stature of 5 feet. As children, she would hug us so intently we’d have to say, “Momma, we can’t breathe.” At 50, she began walking, watching what she ate and soon became petite. Often denying herself the guilty pleasure of chocolate. Shortly after my mother’s transition, I dreamed she was her full figured self, surrounded by light, dancing as if she was on American bandstand.

Something she would have been too embarrassed to do in this life. During the dance she stopped, looked at me, and said, “Remember, none of it matters.” The lesson of the heart to be learned from this is that many people need to assess the goals they are pursuing and ask themselves, will this pursuit expand my consciousness? Is my quest my soul’s agreement? Am I pursuing my bliss or another’s expectations? Alexander Wolcott said, “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. Because what the world needs, is people who have come alive.” We bring to life an agreement of our soul. Yet, as adults, the memory of our soul’s agreement can be overshadowed by mundane and external expectations.

Occasionally we need to assess our goals and ask questions such as; do the goals I am pursuing truly matter to my being able to be healthy, happy and whole at the soul level? To facilitate tremendous change in ones life, an individual needs to work with an affirmation that states, “I expand my consciousness by knowing that the power, intelligence, and creativity of God continuously operates as my experience.” The divine effect always follows the divine idea. Ask yourself what makes you come alive. Then go and do that. The world needs you to satisfy your soul, live your dreams, and be the best expression of God to have ever graced this planet and live life to the fullest. It is from this point of spiritual empowerment, all the good effects in life will manifest.

The ultimate agreement of your soul is to live life as a limitless expression God. The only thing that stands between anyone and their ability to fulfill their soul’s agreement is a false idea that states something may block their path.

Norman Vincent Peale wrote, “Anybody can do just about anything with [themselves] that [he or she] really wants to and makes up [their] mind to do. We are all capable of greater things than we realize.” We have a choice about the obstacles we encounter in this life. We may choose to allow the obstacle to delay us in our task and accept defeat. Or we may choose to utilize the creativity within ourselves. As an expression of Spirit you are greater than any false obstacle. For those curious about how to remove an old idea that may reinforce the obstacle, remember, God is all there is, therefore God is all you are.

You are boundless and capable of transcending all things. Let that idea empower your consciousness and affirm for your experience, “I am an expression of God operating in right and perfect action and am empowered to create my life with ease. Nothing may ever stand in the way of my unfolding good.” As that truth crystallizes in your consciousness, anything unlike that idea in your experience will fade away. When an individual pursues external expectations instead of their soul’s agreement, life tends to become a serious endeavor filled with obstacles as opposed to a wonderful easy adventure. Humankind is not designed to be serious all the time. Life has a sense of brevity.

The energy of God, as infinite as it is, is weightless, light, and drawn to positive expressions of itself. Deepak Chopra stated, “We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other. If we share with caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other, and this moment will have been worthwhile.” We live life as the Divine, by assisting others to bring forward their soul’s agreement with heartfelt brevity. Our life experience is a parenthesis of time and not meant to be taken too seriously. When we take life seriously, we get caught in the cycle of the mundane and external and may forget life is meant to be lived as the love and light of God. And somewhere in there we lose sight of what really matters; a good laugh, an anticipated hug, or just living in the moment as a perfect expression of Spirit. Life’s too short to be taken seriously. Laugh from time to time. Enjoy the brevity of the Divine coming to life as you. Live for the purpose of creating your experience with the light and love of Spirit, and all good things will follow. Perhaps most importantly, dance! Those are the things that really do matter.
