....I went back through the Aquarius archives. I was curious as to what I said this time in 2001.We had just had the attack on the world trade buildings and in my editorial I said how great it was to give the people in Afghanistan a chance for some freedom after decades of war, I spoke about how our country was somehow up-lifted by the tragedy and we were softer, kinder people and even our road-rage had stopped.
I wanted some good to rise up from those ashes and bring a new day without fear, and it did for awhile as the love and generosity
poured in from everywhere on the globe. More than four years has passed and we are still at war, but it seems we are not any wiser for it. We didn’t stay gentle very long and it seems that greed took on a whole life of it’s own. ….
Things have gone down hill over the last four years. So, just how far down the rabbit
hole can we go?
If we look at all the issues that face the world or just focus on the United States, it IS scary. That’s why we must take one day at a time. Are things really this bad, or are we suppose to rally and make loud noises to be heard like years ago, when we did that effectively and made change happen? Next year is an election year and that will be another opportunity to help change things for the better by getting involved. Here’s just a few things that have gone awry.
Business: We have major airlines going bankrupt. Corporate fraud is still running rampant, it just doesn’t seem to stop, or seem to be getting any better. The Stock Market at it’s best is very shaky. The money we spend everyday for war and rebuilding the states devastated by hurricanes
is mind boggling.
Weather: People say we have always had bad weather, so what’s the big deal? I don’t know, maybe we should listen to people that have been through fifty+ years of living
in areas that always have had potentially
dangerous weather conditions and hear, that they have never seen such devastation
in the wake of recent storms, fires, earthquakes, and tidal-waves.
Environment: Some of the severe weather we’ve seen this year, some of us think, is at the very least partly caused by global warming. Many acres of preserved land are no longer considered sacred land. Next time around we must vote for people interested
in protecting our environment on all levels.
War: I can’t go there and stay positive, so I’ll just pray, oh God, help us do the right thing around this.
Science: What to do about stem cells, cloning,
and intelligent design, all interesting subjects…
Health Care: In my opinion, nothing is in more disarray. Our drug companies are out of control and our nation as a whole has never been sicker. I’m working on a article that will address this subject in more detail, but it’s horrifying to find out the #3 killer of US citizens is from prescription drugs. The #1 killer is Cancer and #2 is heart related conditions. Did you know there has never been a drug study of more that one drug in the body…so that means when you take a heart medicine and add a pain pill that no-one knows what these two together is doing to your system. That’s amazing especially when we know that many people take several prescriptions
drugs everyday.
But, I’m an optimist and if you’re not, “change your mind” because it really does help. For some mysterious reason the vibration rate of your thoughts can and does create your life. When I put this theory into play in my own life I’m always up-lifted.
We want to trust and have someone or something to count on and we do…..but it’s not the people with more material things and it’s not the government and it’s not the corporation you work for. Our foundation is our inner strength and faith.
I don’t mean to be Bah-Humbug, but it’s not my style to stick my head in the sand. I prefer to know my situation and have a game plan and hope “Spirit”, my higher power, agrees. It’s grounding and practical
to know your boundaries without being limited. It’s difficult to carry on right now and act as if things are hunky-dory. I’m glad this year is ending. We need the new energy of the coming year to work with. This year has made us all know too much sadness. Remember we can’t escape anything. We’re all joined energetically to everything and everybody. As the “Law of One” states, When one is harmed all is harmed. When one is healed all is healed. This season give, but give something that will count. I recommend meals to the Atlanta mission or a gift of your time by volunteering. Buy someone a self-help book or something that picks up their spirit. Break the pattern of just buying “things”.
