Bring
Harmony Into Your World
By
Kathryn Sargent, Editor of Aquarius
(Editor's Note: Gloria is taking her annual month off from
her column, but she will return in January.)
Last month, a unique opportunity presented itself to all mankind:
a rare astrological event called the Harmonic Concordance brought
six different planets into a star-shaped alignment, and simultaneously,
the Moon - also one of the star's points - went into full
eclipse.
John Mirehiel, the astrologer who discovered this event, recognized
it as a planetary pattern known to astrologers as The Grand Sextile,
a star tetrahedron pattern thought to be
highly beneficial when it appears in an individual’s chart.
However, this event was not in the chart of an individual, it
was the chart for Mother Earth, herself. This Grand Sextile presents
an opportunity for all of us to change the world and ourselves.
This rare event has afforded us the opportunity to bring about
a global shift in consciousness. The energy is there for it, and
it's up to each one of us to make the most of it. I hope that
you had the chance to do your own observance or ritual for the
Concordance, but ritual is only part of it. The next step is to
put wings on your prayers. DO change your consciousness, BE a
change of consciousness, WALK a change of consciousness. If you
don't feel it yet, just keep on Acting As If, and it will
become real to you.
One important way to change your consciousness - and what you
do on a personal level affects the earth on a larger level (remember
Deepak's butterfly story?) is to practice Gratitude.
When you focus on what's going right in your world, your energy
is lifted and your joy increases.
Personally, I have new cause for joy in my life. My darling daughter,
Stephanie, is pregnant, and she and Tim will be welcoming my grandson
into the world next May. Seeing little Samuel Wyatt in a sonogram
picture for the first time really knocked me for a loop. Who would
think that a three-inch long fetus could change your whole world?
I don't remember ever feeling such joy as this little 'alien,'
as Steph teasingly refers to him, has brought me. He's really
brought home a feeling of immense gratitude in me.
When I'm driving to work, I'm focusing on being grateful
for a dependable car and for the beautiful blue skies vaulting
above me. I'm setting my intention to have a peaceful, productive
work day in an office where good morale makes working a pleasure.
I'm thanking Goddess for all the people in the world who serve
humanity and the environment. I'm thanking Her for the love
that surrounds me and a renewed sense of closeness to my family.
I'm grateful for every moment with the people I love.
We all know, in the metaphysical community, that our thoughts
have incredible power to bring change. Now, quantum physics seems
to support what we have believed all along, that our thoughts
can affect the physical world around us, our bodies, our health,
our emotional balance. Just think what we can do, using the energy
of the Harmonic Concordance as a jump start, to change our world
for the better!
You don't like war and gang violence? Yeah, you can 'visualize
world peace,' 'whirled peas?' but you
can also BE peace. You can contribute to peace by not getting
ticked at the risky drivers. Gloria just clucks and says something
like,Well, honey, you must be in a bigger hurry than I am.
You just go right on ahead. I have to admit that that is
not my first reaction, but I'm working on it. Meditation will
bring you peace, yoga will bring you peace, and your peace will
affect others. It will help them feel peace. Peace is contagious.
You don't like the way the Chinese have treated the Tibetans?
Well, you could just fuss about it all the time, or you could
do something about it, like my friend Joe Mickey. Joe is a very
modest person who credits his friend Sazzy Vargas with setting
up the web site for The Tibetan Photo Project (www.tibetanphotoproject.com),
and says that the Internet made the whole thing possible. However,
I know that Joe finances the whole thing on his salary as a sports
editor of a little newspaper in California. I know that he's
the one who sends disposable cameras to the refugee monks in India
so they can photographically document their lives in exile from
their native Tibet. He processes their film. He shows their photos
around the country and talks about their plight. I know that he's
supportive and encouraging to them, because he is to me, too.
He's a staunch defender of Tibetan freedom and he does it
while being Peace. Joe Mickey is a perfect example of how one
person can change the world, one little corner at a time.
While I'm expressing gratitude and joy, let me thank all of
you for everything you bring to the metaphysical community. You
are out there, bringing healing and enlightenment into the world
in your own individual ways, and everywhere your light shines,
the light is magnified. My thanks to our writers and to our advertisers
whose support empowers Aquarius to continue to serve the community.
My thanks to my co-workers, Gloria, Dorothy, and Terri, for all
that they do and for who they are. And most of all, my thanks
to you, Dear Readers!
Have
a Blessed New Year!
