This is a dance journey through world cultures, with influences ranging from trip-hop, world fusion, and funk to folk and classical traditions of Indonesia, India, and West Africa. Wertheimer is an award winning songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who has played with Ali Akbar Khan, and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, and opened for Carlos Santana and Paul Winter. He plays tabla, congas, esraj, keyboards, percussion and a MEAN guitar. Dance yourself to Nirvana with Circle of Fire! - KS On three moonlight summer evenings in 2001, Kitaro and an ensemble of four Japanese musicians performed three shows at the venerable holy temple of Yakushiji at Nara, Japan. This special event for world peace marks the first concert ever performed at the temple, founded by Genjo Sanzo, a 7th century monk who walked from Japan to India and back to bring the sacred texts of Buddhism to Japan. Kitaro's music, in his new release, Daylight, Moonlight: Kitaro Live in Yakushiji, is inspired by Sanzo's journey and its passion. The two CD set begins powerfully with chanting monks, crashing and thunderous drums, and high drama. The music creates masterful soundscapes that call forth visions of the majestic landscapes, warm villages, and barren plains the master must have journeyed through.
