Rinpoche also writes, in Legends of the Star Ancestors, that there is a “connection between the anger and the fear within the sentient being's mind and the natural disasters we are now experiencing on the planet; these emotions create an imbalance that is then reflected in nature.” Think about the ramifications of that. When you're fuming at traffic snarls, or holding bad feelings toward someone you know, you are contributing to this energy of unease that magnifies by everyone else who feels similarly, and it affects the earth around you.
This
tells us where we can begin to
personally work for change, for
healing, that will also magnify
and affect the world - in a more
positive way. We are the microcosm,
it's true, but collectively,
we have the power to affect the
macrocosm. Manifesting peace
in our daily lives may help to
manifest global peace.

a time to get up off your meditation
bench and do something for others.
Pray. Make ceremony to heal the
earth and its people. Work to
clear your mind, your home, your
office, and your neighborhood,
of harmful energy including racial
conflict, religious bigotry, gang
violence, neglect of your elders,
child abuse and more. If anyone
has any hope of rising above these
times and being a force for healing,
it's you! You already see
the dream that others cannot yet
imagine. Hold the dream for all
of us, and help this world transform!
