Freedom of Access to Complementary Medicine: Your Support is Urgently Needed

Minnesota did it; Rhode Island did it; California did it. Can Georgia do it?

Minnesota, Rhode Island and California all passed Freedom of Access legislation putting the right to choose CAM (Complementary/Alternative Medicine) in the hands and hearts of consumers. Do Georgians deserve any less?

Georgia, along with New Jersey, Florida, Iowa and New York, continue to actively work toward passage of Freedom legislation. Numerous other states are in various stages of research and planning. There is a national movement demanding the right to choose alternative health care, and CAMA (Complementary/ Alternative Medical Association) is part of that movement.

The Georgia legislature will re-convene the second Monday in January. We will be ready, with the strength of concerned, active, responsible and informed CAM consumers and practitioners, to usher in Freedom legislation in Georgia. If you are one of these consumers or practitioners, we need to hear from you NOW. Your involvement is crucial to the passage of this legislation. Your participation in CAMA, CAM Day 2003, the CAMA Educational Room and grassroots efforts is key.

This year's CAM Day will be held on Monday, January 27 from 9-4 in the Georgia State Capitol rotunda. It will be the seventh CAM Day sponsored by CAMA. Its purpose is to educate the public and legislators about the advantages of and facts about alternative medicine and to educate CAMA members about the political process. We invite both CAM consumers and practitioners to come and show their support for CAM and CAMA, meet their legislators and learn how they can help secure their right to choose CAM. We need CAMA Practitioner Members who wish to secure their right to practice CAM and are willing to provide therapy demonstrations or information to legislators and visitors. Last year, we had over thirty demonstrating practitioners; this year we want over fifty. Last year we had less than a hundred consumers; this year we want hundreds. Mark your calendar to attend CAM Day 2003 on January 27. Is your freedom to choose or practice CAM worth taking a vacation day from work?
