In one of his rare public appearances, the great Geshe Kelsang Gyatso will be giving wisdom teachings and empowerments at an International Kadampa Festival at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles entitled, Vision for Inner Peace. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has encouraged his heart disciple, Gen-la Samden Gyatso, to stay with us here in Atlanta for the whole weekend. Kadampa Buddhism is a living and thriving school of Buddhism originating from the heart of Buddha Shakyamuni himself, almost 2,600 years ago. Later, Buddha's teachings became dispersed and Atisha, a famous Indian Buddhist pandit of the 10th century, gathered all these essential teachings and presented them in a way that was easy to understand and practice. This special presentation of Buddha's original teachings is extremely rare and difficult to find. Through applying these instructions we will make powerful and swift progress along the spiritual path. Since 1977, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has revitalized Kadampa Buddhism, which now flourishes with over 500 meditation centers worldwide. Each center has study programs and meditation retreats, as well as a qualified resident teacher who understands the language and culture of their students. Additionally, the centers are entirely independent, have no political affiliation, and share a common spiritual purpose. Kadampa Buddhism stresses the importance of spiritual practice in one's daily life in order to develop a good heart, attain inner peace and happiness, and to achieve spiritual liberation in order to benefit all beings. Gen-la Samden Gyatso is a western teacher who represents the entire lineage of Kadampa Buddhism. He has been the resident teacher at the foremost centers of the New Kadampa Tradition, including the monastic Losang Dragpa Center in England. Currently, he is the resident teacher at the NKT Mother Center, Manjushri Mahayana Buddhist Center in Ulverston, England. Manjushri Center is a large residential Buddhist Center of both ordained and lay practitioners, and hosts thousands of visitors each year, especially during the annual Spring and Summer Meditation Festivals. Gen-la Samden supervises the development of all NKT Centers throughout the world. He teaches in Europe, Malaysia, Canada, Brazil, England, Australia, and the United States. Samden leads the International Teacher Training Program, the certified study program for all resident teachers of the tradition. Additionally, he regularly grants blessing empowerments, and has given Highest Yoga Tantra empowerments to students worldwide. Gen-la Samden's teachings are highly regarded for their clarity, humor, and great skill at relating to real-life experience. Join us Friday evening to meet this most kind and approachable spiritual teacher. All are welcome, regardless of their path. Come and hear Ven. Gen-la Samden Gyatso's teachings.
