Imagine walking along the beach in the early morning, listening to the quiet hiss of gentle waves, feeling the sand give under your bare feet, and noticing the soft, pastel colors around you. This is the gentle, reflective quality you will find in Kathy Raimey's debut CD, Flowers of Fire. Her soft piano improvisations were conceived in the early hours of each morning when she was “still close to the dream state,” and the music is perfect for that time of day, or for meditation or healing work. The sound of ocean waves provides the background for the pensive, heartfelt melodies that soothe and comfort the listener.

Flowers of Fire, with its beautiful cover art, also by Kathy Raimey, will only be found in a few local
stores and on Raimey's website, www.cdbaby.com/kathyraimey, as she is a local, independent artist who is not yet represented by a distributor. It's worth the effort to seek it out!

Spiral Rhythm has released I Am, a collection of beautiful Pagan/Wiccan chants. Sung by male and female voices in rounds, the lyrics are all clear and easy to understand and sing along with, and the accompaniment is solely by drum. Unlike some of the earth religion chant albums I've heard previously, Spiral Rhythm all have good professional voices (much as I respect Starhawk and Reclaiming, their tape of chants is a bit painful to my ears). Spiral Rhythm's harmonies are beautiful, but not beyond the abilities of amateur singers who may aspire to learn these songs. Aside from the title song, I Am, listeners will hear Freedom, One Spirit, Mother Mine, She Makes A Place for Me, Moon is High, Descants, Why Do You Call, Life Circle, Drum Circle, Sound of Change, OM, and Healing Circle. All are uplifting, inspiring, and deeply spiritual, and the drums are just right! Highly recommended!
