The
Right Way of Living
By
Kathryn Sargent
What
the Golden Mean is to Sacred Geometry, The
Right Way of Living is to a healthy lifestyle-a
model of perfect balance and proportion. Dr. Guy
Ferru has intentionally created this slim volume
with the simplicity of a Zen garden, so that even
the busiest, most impatient soul will find the information
for a healthy lifestyle in quick and concise terms.
Whole
books have been written on the merits of pure water
alone, and libraries have been written on exercise
and diet and herbs. Who has time to read a massive
tome the size of a phone book to figure out what
we should be doing for our health? Very often, we
get discouraged before we begin.
so
deliciously to-the-point. He addresses the three
states of the body - physical, energetic, and spiritual-and
writes, to have perfect health, we need to
harmonize these three bodies correctly by giving
them the right food. For the physical body,
the right food is a properly balanced
diet of fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins,
mineral salts, and good quality water. For the energetic
body, the right food includes plenty
of negative ions for energizing the electrical body.
For the spiritual body, a healthy mental attitude-faith
and harmony-are the right food.
The
Right Way of Living synthesizes Chinese
medicine, Ayurvedic, western, Zen, Feng Shui and
Chi Gong teachings to present the best the world
has to offer in guidance for self-nurturing. You
will learn from this book how to choose Chinese
herbs for longevity and rejuvenation; how to assure
yourself of the best drinking water, and why it
is so important to your body; how to stretch, breathe
and work out; and how to design your environment
with Feng Shui, colors, and aromas. You will not
only learn about herbs for cooking, the kinds of
savors, and the healthier forms of fats, but also
you will learn The Art of Presentation of food so
that your plate looks beautiful AND signals your
digestive processes to begin, literally making your
mouth water.
Personally,
I've been a member at Life Grocery for many
years, and I confess that I still don't know what
to do with millet or buck wheat, despite seeing
them there for years. Thanks to Dr. Ferru, I plan
to try them, now that his book has given me some
very simple guidelines for their use. The world
of tempeh, soy protein powder, barley and oats now
makes more sense to me!
