Are
our freedoms at stake? Headlines today - Is God at Work?
Pay attention
- don't let your future go UN-noticed when we all need you
the most - Where are you old 'Hippies'? We need you!
Where are those of you that were willing to fight for your way
of life that meant something? Let's take a look at some
things that make me question a few things.
What happened to the good old-fashioned 'Public Demonstration'
- our freedom of speech and our right to choose?
When
you understand that the simplest protest now needs to be organized
and permitted by the government, it truly is sad. There's
nothing to fear but fear itself. Boy, are we there!!!!
The fear that has embellished the world is frightening in itself.
Is it not? I'm not suggesting that we don't have good
reason to be on guard, but I am begging that we are mindful
of what is happening to our society, and the freedoms that we
have already fought for and won.
I know the abortion thing has been a political hot button for
decades, but I see it as a ploy for both parties - just promise
the extremists anything, but this reality will bounce around
from safe to strike-out and almost every call will be right.
I don't know anyone that wouldn't agree that it
would be better if all people (especially our young) had better
sense than to get pregnant before they were ready to settle
down and plan a family.
Anything can happen with this hot button, but it will probably
not be reversed for one simple reason: We can try, but we can't
control the behavior of others, and many good families are faced
with the decision to abort or take on raising a child. Most
people - even the holiest-of-thou types - are too selfish to
take on that type of responsibility.
So, I think most (though not all) are happy about the right
to choose. I would hate to see it go back to the days of illegal,
dangerous procedures taking place behind closed doors. Let's
pray that never happens.
A recent political hot button that is really troublesome is
the separation of Church and State. We are such hypocrites,
saying one thing and doing another, but this problem has too
many undefined legs to it. To go into this at any length would
take a book. Volumes of wrong doings have happened - from supplying
the wrong countries with high powered weapons to justifying
every evil deed in the name of God. From every angle we should
all pay special attention to any political party that has too
much control and power. Silence isn't always golden; sometimes
it's just secrecy.
Another careful look should be taken at the whole pharmaceutical
industry. These companies are also too powerful. They spend
billions on advertising each year, and that's something
new. I don't remember seeing this push for drugs in the
past, but I do see this as a wake up call for us. If they deem
it necessary to peddle more drugs, could they be more concerned
that the health food stores are getting too much of their money?
How long do you think it will take before you see our non-invasive
herbs taken off the shelves, one by one? Or, you'll see
herb shops closed, one by one. I think an across the board ban
on 'plant food,' (which is what herbs are) would
raise too many flags, but the unaware or sleeping consumer wouldn't
even notice their rights being taken away in this area if it
were done in a sneaky under-handed way.
Did you hear about the Supreme Court decision that made people
give up their homes to private developers? Is that OK with everybody?
Did you love it when you heard we have a news reporter in jail
because she chose to protect her source in the obstruction of
justice rumor involving Karl Rove, the White House brain and
architect that got Bush four more years. Are we outraged yet?
Not about Bush - hell, that really will pass, but will we have
anybody reporting uncensored news?
You know it doesn't seem 'that bad' when you take
a look, one freedom violation at a time, but when you stop and
look at the whole circle, the words of Franklin Delano Roosevelt,
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself, take
on a whole different meaning.
Alright, already, enough! But, I could go on and on and on,
etc.
This too shall pass, and I love it when I take a quote right
out of the bible because for some this is the word, the only
word. I'll be happy when this time passes, and I pray to
God we have enough pieces left of what was good, so we can rebuild
the constitution and make our forefathers proud again. I hope
we can stop the justification based on our own moral bias.
What about the 'War'? What about our troops?
Maybe it's just 'Mars.' The Red/War Planet is about
to be spectacular! Earth is catching up with Mars in an
encounter that will culminate on August 27th when the two planets
will come closer (within 34,649,589 miles) than any two planets
in recorded history. The last time Mars came this close to Earth
was 5,000 years ago, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before
it happens again.
Something
is going on - something's not normal. We will have to wait
and see.
