MY
EMAIL WAS STEAMING! RELIGION IS A HOT SUBJECT

Just read your Publisher's Page (July 2004), and have experienced
many of the same episodes with various pastors here in Atlanta.
How do you not let this organized Christian Church get under your
skin? I am a strong believer in Metaphysics and was raised in
the Christian church. I read everything I can get my hands on
from the likes of Wayne Dyer, Deepak, Eckhart Tolle and several
others that have challenged my conceptions of true spirituality.
A friend recently introduced me to the writings of Krishna, Swami
Prabupanda AC Bhatkivedanta, and I was floored by the ancient
knowledge.
However,
I still work in a strong Christian environment that seems to be
filled more with hate than the love Christ preached. These folks
have really got me afraid of going to Hell. They seem to put much
more emphasis on this so-called enemy, or adversary, the Devil.
It seems like everything I hear is either about Satan or the last
days and the Anti-Christ, Revelations and being 'saved'.
Gloria, what's it all about? I am so confused. My heart tells
me one thing but then I get around all of these born again saved
folks, and they make me second-guess my inner spirit. Everywhere
I look they are pointing their fingers at people and judging them.
Went to the church house last week and all the pastor seemed to
be concerned about was demonic activity, gay people going to hell,
stopping gay marriage, et al.
I have had enough.
How do you feel about these concepts hell, the devil?
They say if angels are real, then surely are demons. Even Christ
talked a great deal about evil and the devil.
Honey, I think we're all demons. I think we all have a dark
side that needs understanding within ourselves. If we were perfect,
why would we be here? Earth is the college planet and it was created
for the exact reason you wrote to me. How do I discriminate between
right from wrong thinking? We have a choice everyday. Either we
can use what we are learning from our experiences in an evil (negative
way) or we can take the higher positive road and try to be more
Christ-like. Or Buddha-like or Krishna-like, or just more Saint-like.
Some of us were monks and clergy in past lives and we lived in
monasteries and ashrams. This time we came in to an open society
for the human experience in real life. So, when we hear the truth
twisted and recognize some people are filled with hate and wrong
information it really bothers us and makes us feel sad.
What I don't understand is this, how or why does being Christian
give you the right to be rude, obnoxious, mean and hateful? Oh,
yes, what about being judgmental? How can they see so much doom
and believe that evil will prevail when there is so much beauty
all around us? I see so much caring and loving displayed everyday
by people everywhere. I've got to believe some Christians'
behavior is the dark side of themselves searching for the light.
Everyone is evolving some are inches away and then
there are some miles away from enlightenment but we are all spiraling
and heading in the same direction.
The best way to handle folks at work is to refuse listening to
negative talk. Acknowledge them, and then say something like,
I trust everyone is exactly where they should be or God
would change it. Or I'm glad this lifetime I haven't
have to deal with that! or I wish better times ahead
for them. Start sentences with: Well, for me...
This way you're showing an example of how you think and you
are entitled to your opinion. Another way is to bring the conversation
around to how blessed we all are.
Ignorance is not Bliss! Knowledge is Bliss, Knowledge opens the
doors to everything. Knowledge is freedom, advancement, education,
enlightenment within yourself and beyond. It breaks barriers between
people and helps us to be compassionate.
The bottom line is this:
Dear LM, thanks for writing. You make your own hell and you keep
on doing it if you don't learn the meaning of unconditional
love. You are the devil if you do bad deeds and don't find
your own dark side and embrace it, just before you kill it!! And
Demons are real; they are part of the confusion when you're
choosing right from wrong. Never give up on yourself or anyone
else. Always try to find a common, agreeable concept first. Don't
expect people to welcome your ideas and if you can't find
that starting place, just say this is not a good subject for us
to discuss. Everyone wants more information even if it's to
toss away. But it is never your job to change another person;
in this belief system everyone is already perfect. The good news
is, Angels and heavenly beings are real, too, and they should
be your friends.
