Yol Bolsin (Real World) is like an exotic orchid in a garden full of daisies. Sevara Nazarkhan's voice is at once childlike and sultry, soulful and sweet. This 26-year old pop star from Tashkent, Uzbekistan started out in a women's quartet, but a year later, she released a solo album. Her new release, Yol Bolsin, is a collection of Near and Middle Eastern folk, Sufi and peasant songs. She is accompanied by Toir Kuziyev on the doutar, a 15th century Central Asian lute that is a delight to the ears. These may be traditional pieces, but the arrangements are very modern, with seductive percussion by Shuhrat Mirusmanov. You might not understand the words, but there is no doubt what the songs are about; the passion is unmistakeable! I love this album!

Internationally beloved band Cusco has released Inner Journeys: Myth and Legend (Higher Octave Music), with their trademark exciting melodies with flutes, pan pipes, and tribal rhythms. This album concentrates on the old Gods and Goddesses, with tracks named for Ariadne, Aphrodite, Janus, Pan and the Nymph, the Oracle at Delphi and more. It's about adventure, magic and mystery, and it will inspire you to get off your duff and DO something! You just can't listen to this without feeling the wanderlust rise in your veins. My favorite track is 'The Nine Muses,' with a powerful women's chorus reminiscent of Adiemus. Probably the sweetest track is 'Aphrodite,' which is one of the slower ones. Most of the tracks are fairly high energy. Inner Journeys is an exciting album!
