Astrology July 2009
 Happy birthday Cancer! Welcome to the month of July and the season of Mid-Summer. We have quite a dynamic month ahead, that for many people will manifest as an emotional rollercoaster. Keeping yourself aware of the planetary energies that are spinning around us will help you to make the most of your July.
With the Sun’s yearly tour of the nurturing Cancerian crab, our mood swings and feelings of sentimental nostalgia are in a heightened state. It simply seems easier to take a trip down memory lane and revisit places, people and things from your past. Just remember the old adage to ‘look but don’t stare’ at those bygone days.
This month brings us two powerful eclipses. The first is a Lunar Eclipse will coincide with the Capricorn Full Moon on the 7th. Emotions always run high on a Full Moon and this one will have extra punch for sure! This can be an excellent time to do releasing work, especially surrounding the areas of career and life purpose. Is your life’s direction in flux or are there old, negative habits holding you down? Take advantage of this day to make a commitment to surrender and give up your baggage to the Universe. You may notice the results of your efforts as soon as August the 5th, when our next Lunar Eclipse happens in the progressive and innovative sign of Aquarius.
The second motion is a Solar Eclipse in Cancer and on the cusp of Gemini that occurs on the 21st. This also signals the start of our New Moon phase. The Solar Eclipse is a great time to set your intentions for anything that you would like to see grow and prosper. Grab a sheet of paper, find a peaceful space and don’t hold back! Write down whatever you can think to ask for, including but not limited to: a raise, a change of work, better job, new energy in a relationship, etc. ‘Plant’ away your list in a drawer or special place and review it in 6 months to a year to see which of those seeds has begun to grow for you.
Uranus, the planetary ruler of Aquarius, begins it’s yearly retrograde on July 1st and will be there until December 1st. This is a period of review for all the sweeping changes you are making in your life. Think about what you have already cleared away, what might still be an obstacle and how you can add electricity and excitement in a way that is good for everyone involved.
HOROSCOPES Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 18)
Although you’re not the biggest fan of dealing with the past, you may be forced in some way to look at it this month. If you understand that clearing out difficult situations or emotions will make the path to the future much more bright, this work is easier for you to accomplish. Using a light-hearted and childlike approach is beneficial. Remember to laugh and play often and write down the flashes of insight you have during the process. Your ruling planet Uranus goes retrograde from July 1st - Dec. 1st, so this is a time of reworking the themes of self-expression and the freedom of your spirit. You will more readily see the benefits of being emotionally open after August 5th, when we experience a Lunar eclipse and Full Moon in your sign. This month will feel a little bit like having to swim forwards and backwards, but such is life in the fish-lane! The Sun & Mercury are in harmony with your sign (at it’s best from the 4th-17th), so you’ll have the urge to communicate in emotionally honest ways with those you love the most. However, Venus & Mars are challenging you and you may feel that your deepest intentions are getting lost in translation. Use this month for some deeper spiritual seeking. Our Lunar & Solar eclipse days this month will give you plenty of opportunity to explore your mysterious depths. Uranus turns retrograde in your sign as well, so remember your dreams of the past and future. It’s the time to review and revolutionize your ideals and personal voice. Return to top. The Ram always experiences some stress with the Sun in Cancer. Your will may feel temporarily blocked and you have to do a kinder, gentler dance with others to get your way. Our two eclipses of the month are also likely to impact you greatly. These eclipses both happen in signs that challenge you, so expect some tention. Stay aware of this energy flow, especially in regards to changes around work and home life. Find fun, creative ways to work out some of the stress you may feel. The Sun’s shift into joyful Leo on the 23rd, along with Mercury, Venus & Mars in harmony with your sign should get your smiling again! Your ruling planet Venus shifts into Gemini on the 6th, making this a talkative month for the Bull. Use your famously lovely voice to verbalize everything you want to see come into your life, especially on our Solar Eclipse day of the 21st. Anything that requires a bit of spark and aggression is best worked on until the 12th while Mars is still in your sign. The Sun’s movement into Leo on the 23rd can create some tension for you, but remember that Saturn is still in harmonious alignment with Taurus. This summer is a fantastic time to move those boulders you once thought impossible to budge. Return to top. Gemini (May 21- June 20)
This should be a sweet, loving month for the Twins! Venus begins her journey through Gemini this month and is joined by Mars on the 13th. This will make you extra charming (as if you needed more!) and will give you the energy and courage to make your move whether it comes to love, business or making new friends. The fun picks up even more after the 23rd with the Sun and Mercury moving into playful Leo. Make sure to enjoy it, but be responsible too. Saturn is still stressing your sign, so a bit of caution pays off well. Return to top. Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
What an incredible month ahead for the crab! With both of our eclipses in direct aspect to your sign this month, you can expect a dramatic turn of events. Situations you have long sought conclusions or answers to, begin to shift. Remember that if they change for the worse, there are important gifts hidden behind the problem. This energy is working to move you in a positive direction of growth and enhanced freedom. Make sure to be gentle with yourself on the 7th during our Full Moon and give yourself room to cry and be emotionally open. The start of July may come in like a lamb and later roar like a lion! Remember to take some catnaps in the sunshine while you wait! The energy will begin to pick up, especially around mid-month. Mercury will move into your sign on the 18th, bringing your voice and communications to the forefront. Along with the Sun going into Leo on the 23rd, you should be able to properly shine and express your creative spirit. Venus & Mars are also working with you this month, so pay attention to opportunities to be more romantic in your relationships and more driven in your work. Your energy will be at it’s best in the first week of the month. After the 13th, both Venus & Mars are stressing your sign and you may feel it takes more effort to connect emotionally with those around you. Likewise, your objectives seem to be hard to accomplish. Saturn is continuing along in your sign until November 1st, so remember that many things are in a re-ordering process. Simplifying, purifying and removing anything from your life that is no longer productive is important for clearing the way to your personal growth. Many adjustments in the home environment are possible this month. You may feel it takes more patience and effort than usual to keep everything smooth and balanced. This pattern will begin to clear after the 18th, and your mind will feel more focused. Venus & Mars in Gemini will help you greatly with connecting to those you love as long as you remember to keep communications lively and open. The Solar & Lunar eclipses this month both challenge your sign, so remember to breath, decompress and check your internal equilibrium if you start to feel emotionally overwhelmed. Return to top. July should be quite gratifying for the scorpion, as there are many opportunities for delving deeper into the psyche and unearthing that which has long been hidden. The energy from our two eclipses is in harmony with your sign, so seeing the intensity and transformation as a positive thing will be far easier for you. Communications flow more easily from the 4th-17th, discussing your deeper emotional experiences will require less effort during that period. The world around you may feel a bit over-dramatic and emotionally sensitive for your taste this month, dear Sag! This is likely to be one of the most emotionally open and potentially volatile times for the goat during this year. The Lunar eclipse/Full Moon on the 7th in your sign brings all repressed secrets and old pains to the surface. This period may feel intense and overwhelming, but all you hard-working goats out there can definitely make use of it! This is the time to break new ground by fully surrendering the past.
