The Science/Art of Psyche-ology
by Rhonda Smith
...I have often been asked what Numerology is. Technically, it is an ancient science/art based in the fact that thought and the manifestation of thought, i.e. actions, is vibratory in nature. In a sense it is a road map of your own particular energy pattern, your essence, who you are, your psyche and what you planned to experience this incarnation. Your essence is expressed, acted out, in the physical world and is your personality. ...Many millenia ago mankind came to consciousness of self, the awareness of “I”, and wanted to find out about himself, who he was, what he was here for and so on. The shaman or leaders of the tribes studied the nature of both this world and those upon it in their ever-increasing curiosity. They detected a “force” of life that has been given many names throughout our history and known to be part of everything. Now our physicists have declared that everything, including us, is “energy” vibrating at different rates. In addition, biophysiologists confirmed this in the late 1990s when they published that everyone's DNA vibrates as well.
...In order to understand what underlies human behavior, it was studied. Just as the outer vibrations of the personality types in Astrology were studied and codified to become Ares, Taurus, etc., the underlying essence of the person was also codified based on the number of man, 9. These observations were the first behavioral based psychology; however, their perspective was from the “psyche” (spirit) and not the “psycho” (physical). Eventually the inner workings observations were codified by the Chaldeans. The Chaldeans continued to study human nature and just how these ‘vibrations’ are played out in life They focused on the inner actions, conscious as well as unconscious. Thus, Numerology began to be a useful tool for self-understanding and personal growth. As mankind as a group “matured”, Numerology grew as well. Pythagoras then refined, redefined and improved upon the work of the Chaldeans so that most of the Numerology of today is known as Pythagorean Numerology. The Jews also extended their esoteric studies into this area and worked with the “numerology” of the Old Testament and developed the Kabbalistic teachings. Ancient numerology was considered so important that if one was studying to be a Magi, an astrologer, they first had to have a comprehension of numerology. This makes sense because if you are seeking to assist someone by giving them insight into the effects of the external forces of the stars and planets, it is a good idea to understand the internal forces that are being impacted.
...Based on these observations, Numbers were assigned to different aspects of the personality. Beginning with 1, the individual that looks at everything in terms of themselves, and ending with 9, the person who is aware of the many and serves mankind. Then they began to divide it into different aspects. The main ones that set the whole chart are the Soul Urge, the Personality Expression, the Expressive Key and the life path. Unlike Astrology; however, the individual is not just one thing, an Aries, a Taurus, a Gemini, they are a combination of the interaction and relationship of these separate vibrations. That interaction will help the person to understand what their inner motivations are and there automatic response tendencies to situations.
...Each of the sections of a numerology chart is called an Aspect and there are approximately 100 different Aspects that are considered and studied in a total chart. It begins by assigning a number from 1 to 9 to the letters in the birth name. Your birth date is also added together to give your life path. Then these numbers are added together in varying combinations to determine what you chose, actually coded into your DNA, as well as the effects of any name changes and other things. In fact, two of these Aspects actually tell the nature of your prana, the essence of you, and the activator of that prana, the consciousness of you. I view these as critical Aspects since the ultimate goal of all of us is to “Know Thyself”.
...Numerology can also be used to establish the name of a new business, the suitability of an address to your nature, even what I publish monthly, the energies available to the group consciousness as the Earth and stars go through their cycles. The final major understanding in numerology is that the energies are always cyclical and based on a cycle of 9. Each day is part of the cycle so there are cycles within cycles: days, months, years. It's all cycles. If you are developing and evolving, each passage of a cycle indicates a new level of awareness, another rung on the spiral of life.
...The formulae for these Aspects are fairly simple to work; however, see the nature and the relationship of these vibrations takes a great deal of study to comprehend the complexity of the individual. Everyone is multidimensional. Numerology helps you to understand your dimensions and other's.
