While we're on the subject of relationships, here are a couple of “duly noted” books worth checking out: Building a Magical Relationship: The Five Points of Love by Cynthia Jane Collins and Jane Raeburn (Citadel Press, $14.95) explores the dynamics of intimacy from a Pagan perspective. If your relationship is ready to move to the next level, check out Joy Ferguson's Magickal Weddings: Pagan Handfasting Traditions for Your Sacred Union (ECW Press, $13.95), full of advice for planning the perfect magical wedding. And finally, when the babies arrive, Ashleen O'Gaea's Raising Witches: Teaching the Wiccan Faith to Children (New Page, $13.99) provides insight into one of the biggest challenges parents will ever face: providing their children with a spiritual education.

There have been some wonderful reissues of classic books recently. Topping the list are two classic studies of Celtic myth by Caitlin Matthews, Mabon and the Guardians of Celtic Britain: Hero Myths in the Mabinogion (Inner Traditions, $14.95) and King Arthur and the Goddess of the Land: the Divine Feminine in the Mabinogion (Inner Traditions, $16.95). These are revised editions of Mabon and the Mysteries of Britain and Arthur and the Sovereignty of Britain respectively, books which Caitlin Matthews herself has described as her most important works (and which have been not only out of print but have sold for hefty prices online). These books explore the hidden themes and symbolism of The Mabinogion, a cycle of Welsh myths, revealing the hidden magical and Goddess themes within the stories. Essential for anyone interested in Celtic paganism.

Another welcome revision is Marion Weinstein's Positive Magic: Ancient Metaphysical Techniques for Modern Lives (New Page Books, $14.99). First released in the 1970s, Positive Magic is truly a foundational book for modern Witchcraft, important because of its clear message that ethics are absolutely non-negotiable (a message that, alas, often gets short shrift among today's Wicca-as-fashion-statement books).

Carl McColman is a metaphysical writer and teacher based in Atlanta. His latest book is When Someone You Love is Wiccan.
