YOU ARE AN EARTHLING?
When was the last time you
remembered that you are an
Earthling?
.....Sometimes we let life consume us with all sorts of things that keep us from remembering our true nature. It is vital, especially in today’s world, to be in touch with the very fabric of what makes us who we are. In order to be in touch with this, we need to be mindful of what is real and return to the basics. Rediscovering our citizenship of planet Earth is a first step.
.....
Each of us was born to be fully human, conscious and in tune with our planet and the Universe as a whole. Along the way, society began to dictate what it believed you needed to do/be/have in order to be happy. This has caused vast numbers of spiritual souls to find themselves lost in an illusion they have adopted as the truth. The fact is there is no truth in illusion. The reality is you and I and everyone else on the Earth are children of the planet. .....You may ask, how can I reclaim this truth and still live in society as a functioning individual?
.....Most people ask this, and some of them get stuck right there with the question and quit moving forward. It seems a daunting task to shed the illusions society has sold us, but it can be done. And, believe it or not, it’s not as painful as you might believe.
If you are ready to reclaim your truth and plant yourself into the soil of Earth, try these few steps to help you begin to align yourself with the planet and Who-You-Really-Are:
1. Turn off the television set
• Find something about yourself by first shutting off the one thing that society uses to control your spending, thinking, and beliefs. Even if you have an addiction to TV, you
can trim your viewing time and find yourself in the process. Use the time you’d typically watch television to get to know yourself. You can do this by simply sitting still with yourself and closing your eyes. What thoughts are flowing through your mind?
Are there any worries? Concerns? Complaints? Get to know your inner mind and spirit. Pretty soon, you won’t even want to turn on the tube.
2. Go camping
• Get out of the city and find a campground for a weekend’s connection with the planet. It doesn’t cost much to camp. Just a few dollars can land you in a beautiful natural setting with lots of trees to keep you company. And camping equipment isn’t expensive, either. A tent and sleeping bag can be had for less than $100. Get your gear and get out of town. Find a place to be alone in nature and allow the Earth to welcome you home.
3. Take a walk
• Simple as it sounds, taking a walk, even in the middle of a busy city or suburban
area, can connect you deeply with the Earth. As you walk, notice the colors of the plants and trees you pass. Look into the blue sky and notice the size and shape of the clouds that float above you. Listen to the sounds of the wind blowing through the
leaves, of the insects that sing, of the chirping birds. Imagine that each footstep you make upon the Earth is grounding you bit by bit, little roots growing into the soil beneath you. Breathe deep and feel the love the Earth bestows upon us. It is not
only good for your spirit but for your body as well.
4. Breathe
• Yes, breathe. Take in the oxygen that is so abundant on our planet and let it purify each and every cell of your being. As you breathe in this oxygen, you are
breathing in molecules of everyone and everything that has ever lived on this planet. Take each breath in deeply, hold it for a few seconds, then expel it slowly, letting each breath you take infuse you with the love and wisdom of the ages. Breathing is
something we do automatically, but it is something that can and should be done mindfully. Taking time out to breathe will ground you faster than anything and you will find that all those little things you worry about become less important. You will discover your place in the Universe.
5. Stargaze
• Go out at night and put a blanket on the ground. Lay down beneath the stars and contemplate the immense size and scope of the visible Universe. Even in a big city, you can find a bit of sky to watch. Look at the stars. Think about the vast distances
they are from Earth and how long the starlight has been traveling to get here.
It is mind boggling to say the least, but just the thing to keep you focused on
what is real. Take a few minutes each day to remember who you are and who is
sustaining you. Your Mother Earth loves you and wants nothing more
than for you to remember her while honoring the Earthling that you are. Get started today!
